Lady
Name: Lady Gender: Female Age: 6 years Spay/Neutered: Yes Vaccinations: 12/29/11 Heartworm status: tested negative 12/29/11 Intake: 12/29/11 This is Lady. Lady was found on the highway after being hit by a car. Thankfully, she was not seriously injured. The shelter found her owners but when they discovered that rescue could help them re-home their dog, she was relinquished. Lady’s transition was a bit difficult for a few days; she was scared and likely sore from being hit by a car. She didn’t know us or trust us. It was also just around New Year’s and we discovered she is very frightened of fireworks and would shake and hide. (We do not yet know how she does with thunder as it has not stormed since she has been here.) Within just a few days, she opened up and has been a terrific house guest. She listens fairly well (though she pretends to be deaf when I shoo her off the sofa!). She knows basic commands such as sit, come and shake. She is not a fan of being led by her collar so we are working on that – snapping her leash on does the trick. She is house broken and we trust her loose in the house. She has shown no signs of being destructive. She will counter surf- we are working on that. Lady is such a loving dog once she trusts you. She tries to climb up into your lap to cuddle. She thinks she is a 10 lb lap dog. Although she enjoys getting pet and loved on, she is not so demanding and is fine going to lay down alone for a break. She is playful and will sometimes play ball but she decides when she feels like playing that game. She will gently wrestle with you. She likes other dogs as well but is a little shy with them. We are taking her to the dog park every few days to get her used to being around playful dogs – she is not totally comfortable there so we just take short visits for now. If Lady sounds like she may be the right dog for you, please complete an application and mention her by name.
