Maguire 2002 to February 2009
Maguire was an excellent companion to we humans as well
as to Charlie (the beagle who came out of the woods and followed me home).
We have grieved all day and collected up the balls in the house, yard
and cars. He was never without at least one, and I was never able to get
him to drop the one he had until I offered him another to replace it.
He would bounce one on the kitchen floor and catch it-before I could intercept
it. You all do such wonderful work for such a loving, but seemingly tenuous,
breed. If you hadn't saved Maguire, we wouldn't have been able to enjoy
his company for these 2 years.
Dear Jeanne, We lost Maguire today after a 5 day battle with renal failure, syringing I thought you should know. Best Wishes, Edwina Maguire went to his forever home in NH on October 15th, 2006. Update in April 2007: Dear Jeanne, Here's to warmer weather for our southern boys...although
I am still Edwina Update in January 2007: Maguire was pretty funny when he saw
snow for the first
time last week(it melted), he's definitely a southern boy who doesn't
appreciate the cold! He loved playing in it, but wasn't excited
about going out when it got colder that evening. He has fit into our
family so very well, Charlie the beagle and he have bonded beautifully.
Mom loves
him, and he is very willing to sit and be patted forever and a day.
He truly I am glad many of the dogs have been adopted, they all deserve good homes and lives. I can offer Maguire a long life and lots of love, we look forward to being able to do that. Talk soon, I hope, Edwina note from him new mommy on Monday oct 16th: We have made it through our first day, and I am extremely pleased with Charlie, Maguire, and me. We all got along, I had to leave them for an appointment, we did a 3.5 mile loop, ate like kings and queens, and now I am able to move at least 10 feet from Maguire without his having to get up and put his head on my foot in my new position. I would say we've made some real and tangible progress. If you communicate with Jim, and I will send him a note as well, please pass along M. has stopped panting when he is at rest and unless he needs to go out-as I was hoping he would-Ruf panted (and drooled) for the first few weeks he was with us. The concern is, of course, the heartworm, but as of tonight it does not seem to be an issue. Even if it was, Maguire has come to be our dog and we will deal with whatever comes down the road. I hope I did not alarm Jim with my misplaced email (he'll know what I mean). Anyway, we are all ready to sack out, actually they are already there. I called and left a message on your phone, I will try again tomorrow evening or email an update. I expect tomorrow to be fine, the cleaning lady comes and she is well informed about the situation as I will be at work. She knows the house, knew Ruf well and will be fine. She knows where the cookies are-the most important detail. I had trained Ruf and Charlie to go to a certain spot when I asked, "what do you do for a cookie?" and she kept up the routine. We will have to work on M. He shakes hands well-but, I keep forgetting to tell you, he never knew about stairs! He is still unsure of himself on our stairs, and we have many, as my 81 year old mother will attest. He's getting the hang of them but it was such a surprise. I know in Florida there are rarely stairs, it must be that way in Louisiana?
sunday oct 15th: Just a note to say we arrived home safely
and happily with good meetings Charlie and M. met as M. and I came up from the cellar
stairs as he always We'll be off for a long walk in a bit, he walks well
on the leash and minds. Thanks again for your support and assistance. Will report again soon. Sincerely, Edwina Meet Maguire. He is approximately 4 years old and such a good looking RED HEADED MUFFIN. He was a stray that came to us thru the shelter system. He is up to date on his shots, neutered and HW positive. He minds well and seems to get along fine with all the other dogs. He is really a loving dog and wants to be right next to you. If a Velcro dog is what you are looking for Maguire is your man. As JERRY MAGUIRE would say in the infamous movie, “You complete me” and the pet owner says in return, “you had me from hello”. (aka: first tail wag) Please give Maguire a chance to complete your life. Goldens offer such wonderful companionship and a lifetime of loyalty and love.
