Zephyr was a great dog
Enjoyed any thing you gave him Part of everyone's heart He was loving, kind and gentle Young at heart Rest in peace sweet boy Sydney
Hello everyone, As many of you know brother and sister pair, Zephyr and Shelby, came to stay with us a few weeks ago until a forever home was found for this bonded duo. I was a little nervous at first to have two fosters at one time especially since they were 12 years old, with a bagful of med's in tow, and obese(to say the least) but all of that subsided as soon as they entered our lives. These two crossed over the threshold and straight into our hearts.
Not too many days after arriving, Zephyr started to decline so we took him to Abadie Vet Clinic where he was hospitalized for 5 days until he was stabilized. Her returned to us on Saturday and our family was so happy to have him back home. Unfortunately whatever had taken hold of Zephyr's health was not letting go so easily. It was decided by the board and backed up by his Dr. that the time had come to end his suffering. We made him as comfortable as possible here at our home. I am blessed to have a friend who is a Veterinarian. She came over Monday(her day off) to put him to rest. It was extremely hard but also a relief to see him finally pain free. Zephyr was surrounded and held by loved ones until his last breath.
Shelby was able to say good-bye to her brother and has accepted this surprisingly well. She actually crawled over him and licked a tear from my cheek. What a special moment and easy release of uncertainty.
After this sad event on Monday it really hit me why we really foster. Everything deserves love and acceptance until the very end. Our hearts are forever changed by the short time we had with him. God will surely heal our broken hearts. Zephyr is missed but never will he be forgotten. Sincerely,
Elizabeth Brownlie and Family
