Today several GSGRR volunteers gathered at City Park in New Orleans with their own and foster dogs to spend some time with New Orleans based animal trainer Ann Becnel. Thanks goes to Adrian for arranging this event where we learned a lot about how to assess a dog that comes into our program from a shelter or another owner's house.

Judy, Julie, Alicia, Diane, Mary, Jeanne, Debbie, Adrian, and Malay -- all joined Ann in some practical demosntration about proper handling of dogs.

Paws on Parade took place on March 31, 2007

It was warm and windy in Bay St.Louis Saturday. The event was smaller than in '05,but considering the shape of the coast area, a nice turn-out.
We had 3 or 4 people that sounded interested in adopting and one lady interested in fostering.
And plenty folks stopped by just to get some Golden loving too.
Many thanks to Jennifer and Brad for bringing and setting up the shade canopy and banner.

The Mystic Krewe of Barkus parade took place on Sunday February 19th, 2006 with lots of participation from GSGRR. It was a cold and damp 50 degree day with a cold northeast wind. Those of us from the Northeast thought we had not left home!!!

Here is a group photo of some of the volunteers who participated in the event. (Jeanne, Jim, Carol, Tammy, Lee, Malay and Trinity in front with Rusty and Cowboy)

Located in central NH, the Sandwich Central School has 72 students in
kindergarten through 6th grade. Each year their Student Council
organizes a fund raiser. This year the students decided they wanted
to help the dogs displaced by Katrina.

Twenty students stayed after school to help make the dough and cut
out the dog cookies. Members of the Student Council bagged the
cookies and sold them at the Christmas Fair this past weekend. The students have decided that the proceeds from the sales will be donated to GSGRR toward vet bills of Katrina displaced doggies.

Here are some photos of the events. Jeanne, a GSGRR volunteer in NH, helped bring the story of the Katrina doggies to her former students in NH.

From the doggies--Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. woof woof!!
