Callie in MA

Callie went to her forever home
in MA on January 26, 2008.
Update in August 2008:
Hello Jeanne,
I was just browsing the GSGRR web site and the June '08 newsletter.
I was
compelled to provide you with a pictorial update of how Callie
is doing. She
came to us on January 26, 2008 from New Orleans. It has been
a wonderful
match for all of us. Callie is a precious and much loved member
of our
family. She has opened up and shed some of her shyness and anxiety,
though she has a ways to go. She blends in wonderfully with
us and our routines. We could not have asked for more in a dog.
We look forward to many years with her as a dear and beloved
member of our family.
Would you be so kind to forward this message to Callie's adoptive
mother
with whom she stayed for 2 weeks before she came north. I unfortunately
can't find her e-mail address anymore. Thank you for your help.
Hope your summer is going well. Greetings,
Michael + Susan
Diane and Jeanne,
Greetings from snowy Mass. We went out with Callie on a 45 minute
walk in a nearby park. She didn't mind the snow, but the surface
was very
slippery. We skidded along at times and enjoyed our first extended
time
outdoors. She liked it. She is very gentle, quiet, we don't
know what her voice/bark sounds like. She is very shy. Most
of all she is beautiful and
reacts to her name. We will be beginning obedience school with
her next Sunday since she doesn't seem to react to commands
like "sit", "come" or "it's all right."
She is a fine girl, strong and we are thrilled she is with us.
We will keep you updated. Thank you for all your help and care
of her.

Name: Callie

Gender: female
Spay/neuter: yes
Vaccinations: up to date
Heartworms: negative
Date of intake: 1/08
Callie and her brother were dumped from a truck
on the side of the road. Considering Callie doesn’t have
any bad habits, we can’t understand why! Callie is a long,
lean lady who is calm, gentle and submissive. She alternates
following the family and finding a soft place to take a nap.
Callie likes to play with our resident golden retriever. She
stands by the door when she needs to go outside, and waits without
barking to be allowed back inside. She periodically tries to
climb on the couch, but gets off when told no. She does not
respond to commands like sit. However, she walks on a loose
leash without pulling. Even a younger child would be able to
handle her on a walk. After the second night she started lying
down in her sleeping crate even during the day.
Callie was spayed two days ago, so her stitches
means limited activity this first week. She has begun showing
a slight interest in balls when our dog plays, but has not been
allowed to run. Also, we have had to stop them playing together
numerous times, as dog play tends to be too spirited for her
condition. She was also treated for tapeworms, which explains
her thin body and enormous appetite. With those eradicated and
lots of nutritional food, she should fill out into an even lovelier
girl.
Please call and see if Callie is the right girl
for your family. By the way, she does not yet respond to her
name, so a new name would be no problem.
