Update in February 2010:

Here are some pics of Chief with his beautiful coat. We had him groomed before
Christmas and his reddish fur just sparkled. You can see he had quite a
houseful of canine company over the holidays! He and Heidi the sheltie get along just great and have a

little time every day where they jump around and play with each other.
Chief is absolutely devoted to my mother who he spends his days with.

Thanks for all your help with bring Chief to his new home. We (and everyone he meets) think he is just great.
Ellen

Update from his foster mom--

As you can see, Chief's coat is growing back and he will be a good-looking red boy.  He is doing well in his foster home and is playful with the other dogs.

Chief came into the HSSM after his owner passed away.  He had been shaved but looks like he will be a reddish color.  Chief knows basic obedience commands, is housebroken and gets along with people and other dogs.  His energy level is medium to high and needs daily exercise.  He is in good health except for the occasional minor ear problems that Goldens are prone to have.  He is a very happy dog, good temperament, and eager to learn and please.  If you are interested in him, please fill out an application on this website.
