Georgia in Massachusetts

Georgia went to her forever
home in January 2007.
Update in July 2008:
Hi Jeanne
thought we'd give you a Georgia update. She is doing so, so well. We
unfortuately lost our first dog, Griffey, a little over a year ago
and were ready, this January, for a pack-mate for Georgia. His name
is Ben and hails from Tennessee. Georgia and Ben could have been litter-mates
given the way they are together - loving to one another one minute
and pestering each other the next. Given Georgia's alpha-status (in
this household of two dogs and two cats, Georgia is know as 'Alpha
Almighty') Ben couldn't be a better match.
More importantly, after managing Georgia's heartworm treatment and
prevention for a year and a half, this past month, June, she tested
negative for both heartworm and microfilariae! She's completely heartworm
free! We like to think that Georgia and Ben were out celebrating that
in the picture attached.
Keep up all the good, hard work, Jeanne.
Update in October 2007:
Hello Jeanne,
How are you on this glorious Indian Summer day! We are grateful for
it, and for GSGRR. Because of all the hard work you all do, you created
something special. First, you gave Georgia her name, and then you gave
her a second chance at life. Then we got the great opportunity to find
this loving dog and give her her forever home. And now . . . ( drum
roll ) . . . we give to her BREED.
One two separate occasions, tourists in Provincetown (probably from
Canada) identified Georgia as a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
(the ears, it seems, are dead giveaways). Since then, Lynne and I have
done a lot of investigating and are convinced, both by her personality,
actions, looks, and size, that she is indeed a Toller. In fact, when
we went on the USA's Nova Scotia Duck Tolling website, we could swear
we were looking at pictures of Georgia.
So how's that - her story keeps getting rewritten, and better and better!

and is watching it on the branch.
we are absolutely in love with this dog....
We're happy to report that Georgia is
doing great. She adopted us the
moment we opened her crate at the airport and jumped in our car as
if
she'd been in it all her life. She spent her first ride home taking
everything in outside her window.
She's learned that it's ok when we spend time with
other household
pets, and gives one of our cats sniffs and kisses (the other won't
step onto the floor yet). She and Griffey now start the morning with
a play session, and the aggression between them lasted only a couple
of days (with a grumble here and there, but certainly within the
realm of refiguring the pecking order). Obdience school has helped
us a lot, and Georgia responds quickly to commands. She wants to please.
She is learning how to go up and down stairs, and for
now won't go
into small rooms such as a bathroom or our L-shaped kitchen. We'll
just wait till she's ready.
And she must know she's very pretty 'cause she spent
some time
staring at herself in the miror.
She's starting to protect us now, too, even though
she's just barking
at our reflection in the window.
She is an absolute love and definitely "Golden"
in her need to be
close to her people. We have fallen hopelessly in love with her, and
we think her with us.
thank you for all you are doing to help these dogs.

My name is Georgia. They say I am about 18 months old.
I was found running loose and had not been getting enough to eat. I
was rescued by GSGRR who have promise to find me a great home that
would love me and give me all the food I need. I am a pretty active
gal and have a lot of puppy left in me. Would you consider giving me
a forever home?
