Honey went to live in CT with GSGRR Remy on 12/6/08 Here is an update in August 2011.
Hello all!
I just wanted to send a note to let you all know how Honey & Remy are doing because it's been so long. They are doing great! Both had their annual check up back in February and all is well.
Remy continues to be Remy. He came to us with a reddish color face and he's gone white on us :-) His face, around his eyes has changed to white and he's grown some gray on the top of his back. I've never seen a dog who loves his people as much as he does. He keeps us warm at night by laying right up against you. If he's not laying up against you, he'll move his way around until he finds you. You were right when you called him "Romeo" in his bio. I love when he gets up in the morning and puts his head right on your stomach just waiting for you to pet him. Then he rolls on his back and kicks his legs in the air, until you scratch his belly and furry it is! He's become such a BIG spoiled baby! He missed Honey when she went in for her surgery.
Yes, surgery. Apparently, the two of them were playing and she got her front toenail caught in a blanket and it ripped off, hanging on by a thread, exposing the vein underneath, so you can imagine how sensitive that was for her. After the first vet visit, they wanted to do surgery because she was very sensitive to them trying to get the rest of it off and the mail actually cut into her skin so it wasn't falling off on it's own either. So under anesthesia she went. She did great but did not like the bandage too much. She walked around like she had broken her paw. Poor thing. Needless to say, that didn't stay on more than 24 hours so we just kept her from getting too crazy with Remy and it healed pretty fast. Then we thought she had allergies, rubbing her eyes, squinting, then oozing started. So the normal vet prescribed medicine, thinking conjunctivitis or allergies. After 2 weeks, no change. Off to the Opthamologist at Katonah Bedford Veterinary Hospital, in Bedford Hills, NY. If anyone ever asks, I HIGHLY recommend this place! They were WONDERFUL! They got us in the very next day and within 10 mins of our visit, they diagnosed her problem. She has KCS (Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca) or better known as dry eye disease. Basically, we are her tears for the rest of her life. The tear gland is not producing enough tears to keep the cornea moist, so her eyes were trying to compensate by making this mucus stuff in her eyes. They think the anesthsia she had for the surgery triggered it but said it would have eventually come out over time. It's been a few weeks on the meds and she's doing better. She hated getting anything put in her eyes. I swear her eyelids became the strongest muscle on her. Now, if I walk up to her and she hasn't had the medicine in a few hours, I really think she's telling me it's time by getting down on the floor like she does when I'm about to put it in. I think she likes how it makes her eyes feel. The doctors said she would eventually warm up to it. We go back on the 27th for a followup. I know there's been improvement, I just don't know how much.
Anyway, just thought I'd drop a line and let you know how wonderful these dogs have been and thank you again for bringing them into our lives. They are the best and I wouldn't trade them for anything! I've attached some pics for your viewing. Enjoy!
It will be Honey's and Remy's first Christmas in their forever home in Connecticut. Remy was adopted in Jan. of 2008 and Honey in Nov. of 2008. Update in April 2009: Just a friendly "hello" from CT. Update on honey- I wanted to give you all an update on Honey & Remy since the

Honey is an owner surrender. The owner went to college and wants Honey to have a home that has time to enjoy her. Honey is long and lean. She has been well trained in basic obedience. She will sit on command, down, and "paw". When someone approaches her and puts out a hand, Honey will automatically sit. She is house trained and does not chew on household items. While she tests our response to her trying to get on the couch, she immedately gets down when we object. Honey does not like the crate, preferring to sleep next to her people, but we are working on the crate training.
Honey was mostly an outside dog in her former home, and doesn't seem to mind being outside. Unlike some goldens, if she is put outside, she will not bark or scratch to get back inside. However, if the door is open, she usually opts to be inside with us.
Honey is a medium to high energy dog. She needs a home with another dog to play with or where she gets daily exercise. Given attention and exercise, Honey will be a great addition to some lucky family. Please inquire about Honey is you think she a good match for your family. Whoever gets her will get a true friend.
