Hope

Hope went to her forever home on November 3, 2007 and will be living in Mandeville, LA with a canine sister, skin brother and parents.

Jan 2008--Hi Kathy,

Sorry I haven't sent you any mutt updates lately! Hope and Honeybun are doing very well. We have had a busy holiday season.

She has gained 7 pounds since we got her, and she is so much happier and more energetic. Her coat has gotten fuller and shinier over the last few weeks, too. She is a velcro dog for sure, always wants to be right by our side! Honeybun and her are sooo good together. They have yet to fight over food, or affection, or anything at all. They really are best friends, and every day I can't believe how lucky we are that they get along so well.

I attached a couple of pictures for you. I'll send you more soon! We love Hope so much, and she loves us, too...but I'm sure she'll always have a special place in her heart for you :)

Take care,

Joanna

Update from her new momma on November 10, 2007:

Hi Kathy,

Hope is doing great! She is definitely settling in more - last night she jumped up on the sofa and started playing with me and actually flea biting me :) Honeybun and her are still attached at the hip. One won't go outside to potty unless the other one comes. It's too cute.

She's eating good, and eating treats and seems to be very happy. She is wagging her tail non-stop instead of tucking it under :)We took her to the vet yesterday for a check-up and she is healthy of course except for the heartworms. Our vet says he thinks she's 1 1/2 years - 2 years old, so right on spot with what your vet said.

I'll send you some more pictures soon...I keep wanting to get a shot of them sleeping together...they cuddle up and it is too cute. Hope is really the most lovable dog I have ever seen. Always wants to be on us and close to us and she's the same with Honeybun and Cole.

Take care, and talk to you soon. PS - your foster Daphne is sooo adorable!

Update from her momma on Nov 3, 2007:

The girls are doing great and we are sooo happy that Hope has joined our family. Please feel free to call us or e-mail, or come by anytime! I will keep in touch :) Take care,Joanna

Are you looking for a very small, very affectionate companion?? Well if you are I know just the girl for you, HOPE!

Hope came to GS via the animal shelter in Walker, LA. She was turned in with her five puppies who she so desperately was trying to feed. Even though she was almost starved to death herself, she continued to take care of her puppies and wag her tail at all the passers by. A very kind GS volunteer saw this wonderful girl and took her in.

She is now on the right track; gaining weight (she was 37 pounds on intake and named Hope, in hopes that she would make it) and is probably somewhere around 50 pounds now. Her little ribs are no longer visibly sticking out. She is extremely affectionate and would like nothing better than to cuddle up next to you and fall asleep. She loves to be told she is a good girl and how pretty she is. She is super with all other dogs; loves to play with them and can even get someone to play with her who usually doesn’t like to play. Hope is also currently working on “puppy in the mirror” to come out and play with her. She ADORES children and gravitates to them. She will also play by herself if need be. She loves to voom around the backyard and it is even more fun if she can get someone to chase her. Did I mention that she LOVES kids??

She is approximately two years old, spayed and up-to-date on all her shots, but unfortunately heartworm positive and started on the slow treatment.

Do you need a lapful of love?? Well she is your girl – HOPE !
