Hope Hope now has a new member of her family- GSGRR Toby- who has joined her family in December 2007. Here is toby.
here they are together.
see updates below from her new family "Puppy mill? What puppy mill? I've been here the whole
time"
Hope went to her forever home in Florida on March 7th, 2007. Update from her new family: This is our success story with our rescued Golden...Hope. However, since every day is better and better with her it seems that our success story may never be complete. Her transformation from a sheltered puppy mill rescue to the vibrant dog she is becoming will be an on-going and forever one.
Hope still has her siblings waiting for a furever home and as we hear stories of how hersister Faith is blossoming under her foster family, I have to tell you of all the joy we find with Hope and that whatever worthy family has the good fortune to find their hearts calling out to sister Faith and brother Barron, they are in for a wonderful surprise. It may sound a little corny but these puppy mill pups are like tightly closed flowers where at first glance you don't see the beauty but let them relax and they will blossom and bring you such joy.
Because we are a large family of 7, we may be a little overpowering for our shy puppy at times. But she takes it all in stride. She instantly took to the cat; learning some playing techniques from the him. Of course, with her big paws, he wasn't too thrilled with how she mimicked his swats.
Two weeks after she came home to us, we enrolled her in Basic Obedience class. The first two weeks went slow because she didn't know what a treat was (poor pup, no treats, no toys all of her puppy existence). But after that, she picked up on everything so quickly. By the end of the course our sweet girl acted as a helper to a dog who had developed a fear of larger dogs. The trainer had picked out Hope because she has such a sweet and even nature to her. There's not a hostile or aggressive bone in her body. Hope now has her basics and has proven to be the best walking partner we have ever had. I can even let my five year old hold the leash. To boost up her confidence, we have now enrolled her in a Basic Agility class where again she shows off her intelligence and picks up on things quickly.
People coming around the cornerwill still scare her; that is just until she understands the situation. Be it service people who come to the door or obnoxiously loud machinery, she is confident and in control. This isn't to say that should anyone ring the doorbell she isn't doing her canine duty and telling everyone "Hey, my family is in here. You better be a good guy."
Let me discuss the snuggle factor. We are only too eager to take a nap with our puppy. This 65 lbs ball of fur can be so soft and relax in such a way that she is transformed into a small and gentle bundle. I'll have to speak for my exuberant 2 year old and tell you what a smile she has on her face when her pup jumps on the bed with her (something we allow) during nap time and you see a paw or a snout come around and lay right on top of her and the little hand goes out to hold Hope as she falls asleep.
As for the rest, I'll have them speak for themselves: Steph (12) - "Hope is my buddy. She visits me in my room for late night play and wakes me up in the morning by trying to steal my blanket."
Stacey (10) - "She makes me smile." Nick (8) - "Everyday is a privilege and she's very sweet!" George (5) - "Hope is cute. She is nice. She's a golden retriever. She's very, very sweet." Mike (the Dad) - "She's the best dog we've ever had and I've loved all of our Retrievers. She has us hooked on Goldens now."
Spandy (the cat) - "Meow, meow, meeeeeeeooow!"
From all of us in the Yuschak Family thank you Gulf South Golden Retriever Rescue and to the Landry Family (Hope's wonderful foster family) for giving her a start at the good life, seeing her potential and bringing us together. We all look forward to a million new experiences and long, happy and healthy life together.
Hello, my name is HOPE and I am HOPEng that you might find me to be a very sweet girl and want me in your life. I am only 13 months old, as you can see from my coat, it hasn’t grown in (or should I say – OUT) yet. I am red in color and have a little larger ears than most goldens and my foster Mommy loves to stroke and kiss them because they are ssssoooo soft. I can make the prettiest BIG EARS you’ve ever seen! I am extremely affectionate and if you dare to sit on the floor I will plop down in your lap. My game is fetch and I will fetch that tennis ball as many times as you can throw it. Sometimes my foster brother tries to outrun me to the ball but with my limber legs I always win! I really, really would like a family that has a fur brother or sister in it and when you get to know me a little better I’ll tell you why. I like small kids (although they are still quite intriguing to me) and bigger kids of all ages. Anyone who would like to pet me and scratch my belly is my friend. Oh yes, when you pet me I have to have my paw over your arm. I guess it just makes me feel closer to you ‘cause you know sometimes I can’t get close enough. I do like to give some kisses too. I love to be with other dogs but I’m not sure if I even know what a kitty is, well not yet anyway. I am heartworm negative, spayed and up-to-date on all my shots.
I am HOPEng for the just the right family and I HOPE they find me soon. |
