Hello Jeanne, Johnny, and Kathy,
We realized it has been a while since we have given you a proper update on our Tedy.  It will be 3 years next week since we adopted our sweet golden boy and love him more every day.  It has been a busy year for Tedy.  Last winter, he gave us quite a scare when he ate a rather large rock and required emergency stomach surgery to remove it.  We still have the rock as a reminder of the ordeal!  But he is better than ever and had a pretty quick and easy recovery.  Tedy also became a big brother last summer when we welcomed a new baby into our family.  Tedy absolutely ADORES his little sister and has to know where she is at all times.  He is very loving and we are pretty sure he thinks of himself as her "third parent".  As I type this email, he is sleeping next to her baby swing just so he can be near her and watch over her.  We also moved out of Boston to the south shore of Massachusetts last summer as well.  Tedy has traded in the city sidewalks for a nice big fenced backyard - complete with birds, squirrels, and the occasional deer!  We are also just a short walk from the beach and Tedy has a blast chasing his tennis ball into the ocean.  We take him for some fun off-leash runs on the beach and he gets to play with lots of other dogs from the neighborhood.

I have attached a few recent photos from a trip to the beach.

Hope all is well and that all the goldens in your lives are doing great.

Take care,
Amy and Joe

Joey went to his forever home in Brighton MA on February 7, 2008.

Update in February 2009:

It has been 1 year since Tedy arrived here in Boston and we just
celebrated his "anniversary" with him this weekend. The year has flown
by and we have reflected on how much this dog means to us and how much
we adore him. We have a hard time remembering what life was like before
him.

Over the year, he has gone on vacation with us (we took him to Maine with us for a week where he made best friends with a big chocolate lab named Buddy), he has traveled around Boston (he loves riding in the car and loves the ocean air!). And he has become beloved by all of our extended families and friends.

Some pictures attached include our trip to Maine and Acadia National Park. We've also included a couple of pictures from a trip to the Boston Harbor Islands. And of course, his "1 year anniversary party hat" picture!

It is hard to summarize all of the things that we love about our Tedy...
but here are a few highlights:

Top Ten things we've learned and love about Tedy over the past year:

1) He loves being outside as much as possible. He will go for a walk
rain or shine!

2) He will "talk" to us when he feels like he should be petted

3) He LOVES snow! He will stick his whole head into snowbanks! He was
meant to be a northern dog!

4) He punctuates each meal with a (loud) burp or two

5) He loves to play with all the other dogs at the dog park

6) We love his big furry feet

7) His favorite toys are tennis balls and anything that squeaks

8) He loves to cuddle & he can never have too many belly rubs (and
smiles when he gets them)

9) He is the world's biggest sock thief!

10) He will always lay right on top of our feet every evening

We'll send more updates soon!
~Amy and Joe

Hi Jeanne, Judy, and Johnny!
Greetings from snowy Boston! It's been two weeks since Joey arrived, and we wanted to send you all an update to tell you he is wonderful and is doing very well in his new home. He's a very well-adjusted pup who is full of puppy energy, and he has pretty much settled completely into his new routine. He goes on long walks three times a day, and sniffs just about everything and everyone in the whole neighborhood! He LOVES the snow,
too! Once we have settled in for the night, however, he likes nothing more than to lay at (or, more specifically, on top of) our feet. He loves human
contact, and he is so affectionate that we have nicknamed him the "love sponge".

He has already met our veterinarian and is in very good health. We're enrolled in an obedience class that starts this week, and with his already exemplary manners, we know he'll be the star of the class. We have decided to call him Tedy because it was very confusing to have two "Joeys" in the same house, and he is reponding very well to his new name.
We just wanted to send an update (with pictures) to tell you that he is doing well, and to say thank you to each of you for taking such good care of him. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful dog come into our lives.
Thank you again, and we'll be in touch soon with more updates!

Name: Joey
Age: 14 months
Gender: male
Spay/neuter: yes
UTD: yes
HW status: negative
Date of intake:6/07

Joey is about eighteen months old and has the enthusiasm of a puppy. He
is house broken, crate trained and rides well in a car. Joey lays under
the table when we eat and likes to lay near us in the evening. The dog
has been neutered and is current on his shots. He had surgery to
correct a condition where his lower eye lids turned in and caused his
coat to rub on his eyes. The operation was a success.

This is a very cute Golden Retriever mix that looks like a three quarter size Golden. He weights fifty pounds. He loves to be petted and enjoys playing in a rough and tumble way with the other dogs at our house. Joey needs an
active family who will spend time with him and continue his training. He
is an interesting dog and is fun to work with as he learns quickly. Joey
gets along well with two of the dogs (an older male and a middle age
female) at my house. He and a new young male are not compatible. The
problem appears to be the chemistry between the two dogs and the newly
arrived male is quick to over react. So if you have a dog we need to
introduce the two dogs before an adoption is confirmed. Joey loves to
run and follow his nose so he needs a fenced yard. This young puppy like
dog is a wonderful companion animal.
