Max in NH

Max went to his forever home in Pennsylvania on October 22, 2006.

Well it is time that Max find his forever home. His story goes like this: Max and his mother, a full blooded Golden Retriever, were placed in a drop box in a small Alabama shelter. The shelter manager immediately saw something special in Max and his mom. Max's mom was adopted almost immediately and Max was said to be depressed for several weeks after she left. Since Max was overweight, his coat matted and heart worm positive, Max was overlooked by potential adopters. This is where I came in, Sue the shelter manager phoned to say that Max was running out of time and she felt he deserved a second chance at life.

Max went from a hefty 89lbs down to a healthy 70lbs, has been treated for heart worms and has regained all his energy. Max has a beautiful shiny black coat with rust colored points, white feet, white tip on tail and white on the chest. It is believed that Max's dad is a Bernese Mountain Dog. Max knows how to sit, lie down, sit up like a bear, walk on his back legs and loves for you to hold his paw. Max is housebroken and wants to be with his person at all times. Max is good with other dogs, cats and children. Max seldom barks even when the other dogs are barking and causing a racket, but when Max does bark you better listen because there is something or someone there. Max is still a young dog only 2 to 3 years old at the most. Max was already neutered when I rescued him. When someone ask what type of dog Max is, I just answer a "Black Mountain Golden".

I have never crated him from day one so I don't know how he would react. At first Max did not want to ride in the car, but that has all changed. He walks well on a leash and stays with me when I take him for walks off leash.
