Meg now known as Roux

Meg went to her forever home on July 6, 2008 and will be living in Daphne, AL with her momma, daddy and two cats.

Update from her new momma on July 18, 2008:

Hi Judy,
An update on Roux ... we went to the vet today. Banfield Pet Hospital at Pet Smart in Spanish Fort. I had interviewed there with the main vet back in the winter and liked him, Dr. Colicchio. He examined her and said she was fine. Her appetite comes and goes, so she's not put any weight on yet, but she tested negative for heartworms again, and had some vaccinations too ... Corona, Distemper Parvo HA, Giardia, Leptospirosis 4-way and Lyme disease. She goes back in 3 weeks for boosters on the Corona and Giardia. We also got her Advantix and the heartworm pills (got the pills for now, maybe the liquid we'll get to doing ourselves later). She's not been eating as good the last few days, but he seemed to think it was fine, so long as she is eating some, and she is, just not much. He said some dogs are just that way, they only eat what they seem to need. Otherwise, all else is fine with her here. We love her more and more every day, and she is very attached to us it seems too. She's gotten a nice fluffy dog bed, lots of new toys (she loves carrying some stuffed toys around) and even some cool scarves for around her neck. She gets complimented everywhere she's been and behaves really well. Tomorrow night will be a nice bath and then the Advantix. Enough body harassement today with the shots.
We're going to go ahead and register the microchip too as we know we're not returning her to anyone. She's here for the duration!
Thank you again!
Jeri, Michael and Roux

Some pictures of Meg ... now Roux, or if we were 'formally' naming her ... Delila Roux ... She is doing awesome!!! Loving her new home and we are just so happy to have her here. She and the cats are fine together, she has been a perfect new dog in the house, and loves, loves the yard and the gardens and running loose back thre and having fun. Chases the ball, roots through the bushes, just having a grand time! She's eating well and also has been walked on the leash through the neighborhood and seems to enjoy the nice quiet walk as well. I was the camera-Mom so the pics are just her and Michael so far ...

Hi Judy,
We just wanted to let you know we made it back safe and sound and she is doing wonderfully! She rode quietly in the car the whole way, snoozing a little. We stopped at Pet Smart and got some Eukanuba to start her on gradually, we'll be mixing with what you sent home with us and hopefully she'll like that. When we got here I walked her around some on the leash then brought her into the back yard as Michael readied the house ... he scooted the cats out of the sun room and closed those doors into the house. After she got to check out the back yard some we came in to the sun room and she checked everything out sniffing and looking all around, had a good drink of water, then we just relaxed with her on the floor. One cat was watching through the doors at her quite intently, but she (Meg) paid her no mind. One scare though ... Michael went outside and she stayed in with me on the floor near the door which is a sliding glass door. Think she saw him through the glass and got up and just went to run outside and smacked her head right into the glass door. I jumped towards her, reaching to rub her head and she moved back a few steps, then charged towards the door and did it again before I could stop her. That time she laid down and I just rubbed her head and soothed her and she seemed ok, but she took a good smack on her forehead, twice! After some soothing, I tried to show her the door, slid it back and forth, etc. then she went on outside. I got some bright yellow paper and taped sheets at her level on both sides of the door and the glass windows beside it till she gets used to that being a door there. Our sun room is enclosed, A/C and all, but does have windows all around and the sliding door. Guess she's not been used to glass doors!

Other than that, all is going wonderfully! After a few more walks and romps in the yard we opened the doors from the sun room into the house and introduced her to the cats, since she didn't seem like she was going to chase them. She's not afraid of them, per se, but seems she has been around cats before and maybe had a run in or two, so she stays away from them, not chasing them at all ... so this is good. We walked her through the whole house, room to room, she sniffed and looked in all the nooks and crannies and we've mostly been in the kitchen/dining area since. Michael has been on the floor with her rubbing lots of times, and gotten each cat to come up to her, they've not attacked her, just curiously sniffed and watched, and Meg hasn't paid them much attention either. So, at least no chasing or swatting or hissing or barking or any problems. It couldn't really be any better than this, we are so pleased. She has taken to us quite well, seems to love her new yard and house and we're just so happy to have her here! As soon as we can, we'll send you pictures of her in her new home with her new family ... Michael and myself and her two new "sisters" Perch and Girlie. I think we're all going to get along and be very happy here. Thank you again!!!
