Red in NH here is Red's first snow fall in NH
Update on November 3, 2007--Hi Kathy - you already know how wonderful we think Red is! Thought you'd like to see him in what appears to be bliss! Sam saw me coming with the camera so decided to give a smile a try. They were both very comfortable. And he is such a charmer! We took him with us last week to a friends house that also has a dog - and Red charmed them all - including their dog - I think he has a new friend. We took him to Petco yesterday with us and he charmed them there too! We just love him so much! And Red is on the staff page at Canobie Lake Vet...http://www.canobievet.com/staff.htm Thank you! I hope all is well Tori
Red went to his forever home on October 19, 2007 and will live in NH. Update from his new momma: He's just so delightful! What a super super good boy! Thank you for helping me help Red make the transition to our family these first days! Tori Hi Kathy - Thank you so much! I can't believe he's actually here - Red is an absolute DREAM! What a good boy! And what a trooper! I think he had a very long day yesterday - as I told you on the phone - he came right out of the crate and we walked around a bit - tail wagging. He jumped right in the car and sat next to Sam. We had a very long ride home - a rainy Friday afternoon in Boston is a traffic nightmare - it took just over 2 hours to get back. After about 30 minutes in the car - he and Sam were best pals - he was in the back with her with either his head or a paw in her lap - and she is just delighted with him. We got him home and he came right in. Sam gave him the grand tour. He seemed a bit hesitant to go into rooms unless we specifically invited him. But seems to have settled in. He spent the night sleeping on my floor next to my bed. And he is up this morning roaming around with Sam again. I included some pictures - you can see the girls are trying to make him right at home with blankets and toys! (I took the blankets off after I took the picture). They really love him. We all really do! I've gotten a few face licks now - not at first - I think he had to decide I was ok.
The only thing I'm worried about is he hasn't had anything to eat! We didn't get home till past 7 last night. It was pouring rain and I took him out and then tried to feed him around 7:30 or 8 - but thought maybe there was just too much going on for him. But I tried to feed him again this morning and he just looks at it then me - and if I walk away he follows me. His tail has been wagging since he got here. And he is always trying to cuddle up next to one of us. I don't think he's unhappy? I took the food away (it was there for about 20 minutes) and will try again in a bit - but he must be hungry? Should I be worried? Am I feeding him incorrectly? He did have a milk bone last night - I gave it to him the way you suggested and he did not chomp at all - he is so good. I did buy the Nutro Lamb and Rice for him - it smells the same as what was attached to his crate.
Red is an absolutely delightful dog! I can't believe how lucky WE are!

PS- Red came from a home where the alpha dog ate first and then he did. He is getting used to being the only doggie but eating okay. My name is Red and I’ve been well feed but the good people at GS are working on making me Red the Slim. I am approximately 7 years old and have been surrendered by my owner, not by choice!! My Daddy was loosing his memory and could no longer take care of himself or my brother and me. He wanted to do what was best for us. Since my Daddy was older I didn’t get much exercise but I am now running and playing in my foster home. As you can see in the pictures I love the water and love to cool off in the pool. I “really like” to chase after a ball and just learning to bring it back for more. I’ve taken to playing with stuffed animals in the house too, they’re fun!! I get along great with other dogs, and love to play with Hope 2. You can see us playing in my photos above. I like kids a lot and when I first came to my foster home I immediately followed around and laid by their son. I have all the Golden qualities; very affectionate, wanting to be near at all times, wanting to please, patient, loving…. I am a very, very good boy just looking for my new “someone” to make us complete!! |
