Red

Red went to her forever home in Gorham, Maine on December 24, 2006.

update from her momma in January 2007:

Hi Carol! Here's a little about our beautiful Red "dawg".

Red arrived on Christmas Eve (our 14th wedding anniversary) and was exhausted. She settled in for a long nap of about a day and a half. Everyone came over for Christmas and she was very, very sweet and loving. With each day we find her settling in and knowing that this is her home. She is a beautiful girl and very eager to please. We are starting classes on Tuesday, January 9th for basic obedience training. We want to be sure to teach her the social skills she needs and we want to do it in a fun environment. She has more than exceeded all things we expected. House training was no problem. The heart worm is a little scary but I know she will be fine. We have a great vet who has previous experience with this and recently cured a Katrina dog. I can't thank you all enough for what you do. This is a wonderful program that allows dogs the chance they deserve to have a real home and to be happy!

Thank You,
Kim and Dean
Red's Mom and Dad

Patches,Belle, and Red came to us, from a residence in Arkansas that had 31 horses, and 30 dogs. Animal Control confiscated all of them, because several were thin and needed Vet Care. Luckily, all were Heartworm negative, except one. They were all given their shots and spayed/neutered. Patches, Belle and Red arrived at Gulf South Golden Retriever Rescue, Sunday night, and they are wonderful dogs. Only a few dogs, did not make it, but most are heading to loving homes or Rescues.

Red is about 2 years old, spayed, Up-to-date on Vaccinations, and HW positive. She is currently on Prevention. She is a Golden/Australian Shepherd Mix. She weighs about 40 pounds. Red gets along with the others dogs, but is a little timid right now, but is coming around quickly. We think Red is just overwhelmed with the whole trip here, and then being in a new place. She will learn quickly, and will be fine. This sweet girl has been through a lot, and just wants a place to call home.
