Reggie now Red Sox Remy

Reggie went to his forever home
in CT on January 27, 2008.
Update in July 2008:
Just thought I'd write to give
you an update on this WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, dog we now own.
WE LOVE THIS DOG MORE AND MORE EACH AND EVERY DAY! With the
boys being out of school for the summer, Remy is being spoiled
more than ever. My older son takes him for his walks and takes
him outside to play ball with him. Earlier this year, it seemed
1 or 2 throws of the ball, Remy was done, he just wanted to
come back in the house and lay down. Now, he runs a little longer
before taking his break. I truly believe it's because he's getting
rid of the heartworms. We are really HOPING for a clean bill
of health in January when he goes back for his
yearly physical. Sometimes he goes on.....what we call......his
"doofus" run. He gets really excited and runs in complete
circles
around the yard, almost wiping himself out and tearing up my
lawn
along the way. He is sooooo funny! He just needs to keep an
eye open for the one of the trees in the yard which he ALMOST
ran into, head on. YIKES!
We found he does not like motorcycles.
He's a pretty light sleeper
but he'll either bark at them outside or he picks up his squeaker
toy and squeaks at them from inside when they go up and down
our street. He doesn't let one get by without doing something.
In the morning, once I get up and
we go through his morning ritual of going out and being fed,
I go in to take my shower and come out to find him lying on
my side of the bed AND my pillow, all comfy, cozy, as if he
were laying there all night. I had a chance to read some of
the newsletter and saw you were having the Northeast reunion
in September. Thanks for sending me a copy. I sure hope we can
make it. Well take care for now and we'll be in touch again
soon..........The Kuzia Family
Here is an update from his family
on February 24, 2008:
Well, I thought
I'd give you an update on how Remy is doing. I've sent
emails to Debbie as well.
Remy had still tested HW+ and although our vet
recommends the immiticide treatment, he is supporting our choice
to keep him on the ivermectin monthly. He's had his lymes disease
shot and his booster shot so he's all set until next year. He
is loving the snow, well, at least the more powdery snow. This
last storm brought along some ice which has made the snow more
of a "packing" snow. It gets stuck between his paws
and he doesn't like that much.
We've had the invisible fence installed a couple
of days ago and the first
training session went well. Now, with the snow and ice, we've
had to
postpone some one on one training with him for a few days. He's
not making it easy for us because he doesn't want to leave the
yard - which is great, that's what we want - but it makes the
training more challenging. The snow doesn't help much either.
He needs to learn what will happen if he crosses the boundaries.
The correction he'll feel during session 2 with the trainer.
They were suppose to come back this week for the 2nd session,
however, since we've had a bit of a delay with warming him up
to it, I've
postponed the 2nd session until after some snow melts. That
will give us
some more time to work with him before he feels the correction.
I don't
think he'll have a problem with it at all.
Tom & I have been watching the new dogs
that come in and reading the success stories. What a wonderful
thing GSGRR is doing. God bless all of you!
Well, take care and we'll keep you posted on
Remy. We can't wait for spring time. The kids are dying to take
him out to play ball and frisbee.
The Kuzia Family
My husband is a
big time Boston Red Sox fan from when he was a
child, and now my kids are. We even had to switch our TV satellite
dish to another provider so that he can get the NESN network
to
watch all of the games. My husband's favorite sports announcer
is
from the Red Sox (and even played as a RS) - Jerry Remy. So
we
have changed Reggie's name to Remy after this sports announcer.
He
seems to respond very well to the name since it's not far off
from
Reggie. He even came with a red collar.
I'll be in touch.
Jackie
Debbie, Jeanne & Jim,
Thank you so much for allowing Reggie into our lives. We just
brought him home tonight from the airport and what a wonderful
boy
he is. We believe our Penny girl (our former golden of 14 years)
has been watching out for us and has kept Reggie from being
adopted
until we were ready. We can't understand how anyone could not
have
wanted him. Our two boys absolutely love him as do we. Trust
me
when I tell you that our Penny lived like a princess in our
house.
You can rest assure that Reggie will live like a prince! Thank
you
so much! We'll be in touch with more pictures.
Name: Reggie
Age: 2 years
Gender: male
Spay/neuter: yes
UTD: yes
HW status: positive
Date of intake:8/07
Reggie (should have been named Romeo) is a medium sized dark
golden. He is between 1 and 2 years old. Reggie was picked up
as a stray and taken to the Jefferson shelter. He was due to
be put down when GSGRR took him into their care.
Reggie was a little timid at first
but has blossomed into a sweet, affectionate dog. He knows basic
commands, loves to play fetch and go for walks. His favorite
past time is to be whereever you are. He only wants to please
and be near his human. Reggie has probably not had the best
life to this point and has not been well cared for. His coat
is a little thin but with good food and living indoors this
will improve.
Reggie is not interested in other
dogs so would have to be introduced properly if you have another
dog. He is people oriented and that seems to be his one goal
in life. Reggie would probably not be the best match for someone
with young children because he still has some puppy in him.
He is UTD on his shots and microchipped. His HW status still
needs to be determined. This dog is so deserving of a loving
forever home. Is that you?
