Roxsy
updates in December 2007

We just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday GSGRR.
We gave Roxsy her Christmas present a little early, but looks like she
has to share it with her human sister.
Roxsy has been the inspiration for many school projects, and our 10
year old has presented Roxsy's story at school, the benefits of animals
in our lives and the important of rescue for our animal friends. So indeed
your work has continued in the voices of our children.
In our neighborhood Roxsy is the dog all other dogs love...even those
grumpy ones are Roxsy's friends. Everyone loves Roxsy! My husband has
a whole new set of friends, human and dog.
Wishing you the best for 2008.

Hi Lee,
It was one year ago today that some frightened parents picked up a
frightened 49 pound dog at Logan airport. Some 20 pounds heavier (Roxsy
thank goodness), we celebrated having Roxsy in our home and hearts
for this
past year.
We couldn't imagine life without her. She got some special treats today,
but
rain stopped us from heading to the dog park. Postponed, but we will
send
pictures when rescheduled.
Here's to you all and see if you recognize Roxsy!
Best,
Colleen, David and girls.

Update as of December 17, 2005:
Hello everyone,
We have been remiss in sending our prayers and wishes to everyone in
Louisiana. My mother-in-law volunteered in the Red Cross and flew
in from California and saw first hand the devastation.
We wanted to let you know that Roxsy is doing really
well. We hate to say this but we don't think she is a warm climate
kind of girl anymore. Since it has snowed here, she has been in heaven.
She thinks that the world is a big icy playground. She loves to romp
in the snow and climb the snow banks. She digs holes in the snow and
then puts her nose in. It is hysterical to watch.
She is getting along well with the girls who love
her. She loves when the cat makes any appearance near her. Roxsy freezes
like a statue to let her pass. The only thing that keeps moving is
her tail. She just can't keep that still.
Long ago when she first came to us, people always remarked that they
had never seen such a thin golden. I was a little nervous about those
comments and worked very hard to get Roxsy's weight up. I may have
worked a little too hard because I am noticing she may now be a bit
overweight...But no more comments!!!
And so Roxsy has come a long way. She drinks only spring water and
wouldn't touch her old brand of food. She is groomed by a mobile dog
grooming van called, Yuppie Puppy, who beautify her outside our house
so she isn't stressed too much. At first she never barked. But now,
try to walk past our house; she is at the door and if you didn't know
her, you would think she was scary. She puts up a very good front.
Our mailman has become accustomed to dropping in a dog bone into the
mail slot each day. He now leaves the mail between the doors because
Roxsy ate it all one day!
Anyway, she is a joy. And we wanted to thank you again.
We will send some pictures along soon!
Happy Holidays

As of July 3, 2005--Here are some photos of Roxsy with
her new human sisters.
HI Jim and Lee,
Roxsy IS in her forever home. Those are the words I first wanted to
say. We feel like it is Christmas at our house. Everyone is so excited
and Roxsy is just going with the flow. If the kids weren't so use to
calling her Roxsy, I'd change her name to Ghandi because she gives
out equal increments of attention and love to everyone. Even though
it was late when we got home (for us anyway), our neighbors invited
Roxsy over to have a run around with their dog. And although Roxsy
was polite to the dog, she kept coming back to me for a pat.
We recognize her sweet, sweet nature. She is undaunted by the morning
rush in the house and even gives back toys to our 2 1/2 year old.
She does need some work on learning her commands and walking on a
leash, but those things are teachable. She has the qualities we wanted
most, that is an easy going gentle nature.
I won't lie. I was a little nervous about this whole process and not
meeting Roxsy before the adoption. I now think Jim is a psychic and
could see us as a family and the picture with Roxsy in it.
We will keep you posted as things settle down. But thank you so much.
