Sam 3- adopted February 2009 - now is Max
Sam will be living in new orleans, LA

Updates from his new mom and dad:
he's a great guy
he's insatiably curious.
everything grabs his interest.
he wants to met everybody and every dog.
his head raises way up and his tails sticks out.
he's quite handsome in this pose.
the thing is, he's gets fixated on his subject and somtimes is stubborn
to give it up.
He is a bit rambucsous with other dogs. sometimes it a bit much.
Then on the other hand he doesn't bother us a bit at night while we
are sleeping. he loves to lay around and play
he's a very lovable and special dog.
we are going to get a trainer to see if we can get a better response
to our commands.
he gained 4 more pounds now at 70.
i don't know if you are aware that he has several scars on his little
forhead. he may have gotten caught under a fence or someone beat him.
he is very shy towards things above his head (except of course a plate
with food on it).

Sam was picked up as a stray on 12/31/08. He is light gold with a medium
build. Sam came to us with some minor health issues-intestinal problem,
eye infection and a cough. All have been treated and resolved. This
is the reason he still needs to be neutered and vaccinated for rabies.
Sam was some what under weight (60 lbs) and had little to no appetite
when he first arrived. He was also quite hand shy. Through gentle
coaxing he has blossomed. He has adjusted quite well to his new surroundings.
He has learned to crate on command and is learning basic commands.
He is a very bright young dog willing to please. Sam does not appear
to have any lingering puppy habits-inappropriate chewing, counter
surfing or excessive jumping. We are making progress on his tendency
to jump when he gets excited to go outside. He walks well on the
leash. He has discovered toys within the last week and we are working
on retrieving. (he has not quite got the return part) He is crate
trained and appears to be house broken, he has had no accidents or
instances of marking(very unusual for an intact male!!) He loves
to be brushed although bath time is still new to him. He gets along
well with other dogs and has been a pleasure to foster.
Sam needs a home where he will receive the love, patience, exercise
and training that will allow him to become an even better pet. If you
are interested in Sam, fill out an application and mention his name.
