Toby Toby went to his forever home in Florida with Hope 1 of GSGRR on december 23, 2007 and her family. he is one lucky doggie.
Update from his new family in April 2008 Cc: L. & K. Landry
Well just a little update. I tried to find photos but I think I've been taking more video lately and not very tech savy about downloading longer video. So...this is the BOY. Almost 1 year old now. I don't know why, maybe he was a cat in another life but he's really taken to lying on the back of the couch like that. On the right is his friend, partner, sister Hope. We're not sure what to call the two of them because they FIT so well. She looks towards him for courage and he is so comfortable with her that he's always looking to make sure she's by his side.
He went camping with us for the first time this week. Down here at a place called Fort DeSoto they have a dog park and dog beach. So they were swimming in the Gulf this week. Of course there were other retrievers there fetching balls out of the water. Unfortunately for the other dogs Toby is such a strong swimmer that he'd retrieve his ball then chase after the others'. Our camping trip didn't end very well with all 7 of us sick. The last day we were hit by a stomach bug one by one. We rushed home and spent the next 24 hours sick. Everyone hanging over couches, no one eating. Why am I telling you all of this? Because you have to appreciate what Toby did. Although I got up to feed them and let them out, Toby didn't want to leave our side. He wouldn't even eat. Hope went along with her regular business. There was a distinct difference in the way they acted. It was only this morning after Toby saw the kids up and active and eating again did he eat again or have interest in going outside to play with Hope.
Well I don't want to take up too much of your time. Just wanted to share some Toby is "COOL" stories. I hope things are progressing well and that the military is treating you right.
Best wishes, Karen
Yesterday I received a phone call from a young soldier in Fort Polk, LA who had been hurt in combat and has to give up his best friend, Toby for health issues. Physically, Toby at 7 months is/will be more than Chris will be able to handle while recuperating or risk lifetime paralysis. Now that everyone is crying there is a happy ending. Lucien and I will pick up Toby on Saturday and hopefully, I will be able to ship him out before Christmas to his new family, Hope 1’s family in FL. |
