Zoe

update in February 11,2012

Hi!  We adopted "Zoe" a few years back.  We fenced in our yard shortly after her arrival.  She came to us with Heartworm Disease and she has since tested NEGATIVE for the past  2 consecutive years (so the treatment you folks gave her worked).  She does has storm phobia - terrible, destructive storm phobia.  We medicate her for this - if she is "medicated" it doesn't bother her.    We also crate her when we are not home as she eats everything and anything she can get into her mouth - again, i think it is just her anxiety that she has from having been a stray before you folks found her.  She also has colitis which started a few months after we got her - the vet thinks because of what she has eaten in her travels so we have her on a special diet.

She is a very gentle dog and wants to be at your feet every second of the day!  We try to spread the attention as much as possible to all of the pets but Zoe gets extremely jealous if we pat another animal besides her.  She gets along very well with our lab/hound mix - they are best buddies!!!   When we adopted Zoe, she weighed approximately 73 lbs - now, she is at about 96 lbs and very healthy!!!  We walk her often.  She can be stubborn and we haven't had alot of luck with training or teaching her new tricks.  She LOVES everyone and she loves to sleep on her bed near the woodstove.

Zoe is a girl and as soon as I can, I will post a picture.  I believe the woman we adopted from was "Jean" - her foster mom but I could be wrong on the name - I remember talking to a Jean who was very nice.

We are lucky to have her and glad to have given her a good home. She does know that "bedtime" means time to get into the crate.  We also crate her buddy "Shiloh" at night (they are side by side) so neither feels left out.  ONe day I took Zoe to the vet for her Rabies booster and Shiloh cried the entire time we were gone which made me sad that I didn't take her along too (Shiloh gets car sick so we don't push for car rides too often with her).

We have 3 kitties and Zoe is great with them.  We are very lucky she is a good dog and she loves everyone who comes into our home.  Thank you for letting us adopt her.  I will get a picture to you ASAP.
