Buddy
Linda writes: "I finally got to met my "Buddy" on Monday 2/9/04. The CUR was to arrive sometime Sunday evening (the 8th), but Buddy and his friends took refuse in a motel for the night. I was unaware of this deviation to the plan, so needless to say I was sick with worry and contacted Jim at 6am (5am Jim's time). He called me w/in 2 minutes of receiving my email and assured me Buddy was fine and I would be seeing him Monday afternoon and that I would be pleasantly surprised with him. Boy was Jim right!! He hit the nail on the head in his description of Buddy. I was pleasantly surprised by his sweet nature and also by his size! In case you do not know, Buddy weighed a whopping 106lbs when he went to visit Jim. He definitely is a gentle giant - and as I affectionately call him 'my chunky monkey'! Buddy has blended very nicely into our animal kingdom. Gabbie, our 10 yr old Springer Spaniel is still feeling him out as her boyfriend and Atticus, our Main Coon mix, loves to lay in the sun right next to Buddy. I was able to get Buddy to the vet and on scale the day he arrived. Kudos to Jim for getting his weight down!! Buddy weighed in at 99.8 lb.! The goal for Buddy is to loose 15lbs and then evaluate from there. I am going to hold off until the summer to enroll Buddy in dog therapy training. I think getting the weight off is the most important issue. For now, Buddy, Gabbie and myself enjoy our daily walks to the beach. I can't walk near the door or move the leashes without Buddy getting excited and running to the door ready to go on another adventure!! I will send pictures and keep you updated on Buddy's
progress. Thanks again to Debbie and Jim for matching me with the
most perfect dog!! And I will certainly get the word out about this
great organization!
