Cindy is a cocker/golden mix and a sweetheart. She went to her forever home in Maine on Saturday July 23, 2005.

update on dec 9th:

Dear Jan, Cindy has had her first taste of snow and she loves it. I took her up to the school yard off leash this afternoon and she tore around the field like she was born to run in the snow. Just wanted to let you know that she is doing well and is a happy (spoiled) dog.
Sincerely, Lynn

Update on August 19th:

Hello to Lee, Jim, and Melanie, I am attaching three photos of Cindy that I took today in the back yard. You can see that she is making friends with the stray cat that we have been taking care of for the past 4 years.
She is the best dog in the world and I love her so much!
Best Wishes to All,
Lynn

Update aug 11th:

Dear Lee, I'll be emailing you some photos of Cindy soon. Rod has them in his digital camera and has not had a chance to download them but as soon as he does I'll make sure that you get to see them.
We are calling Cindy = Sydney instead because my mother's dog was named Cindy. She was 16 years old and my mother just recently had to have her euthanized so it is hard to use the name again. We all talk about what is the best food for our dogs. My mother's dog never, not once, ever ate a morsel of dog food. My mother fed that dog for 16 years boiled chicken, boiled hamburg, canned soups, etc. and the dog lived a long life so I guess it really doesn't matter that much what kind of dog food we buy. I've been adding canned dog food, canned Dinty Moore beef stew, cottage cheese, yogurt, or something each meal. The dog does not like the dry food so I add something to make it more tasty for her.
Sydney follows me around the house all day and goes with me in the car wherever I go. She also loves to go out to my daughter's house where she plays with Janis's dog, Presley. The race around the house and wrestle until they both are so tired they fall asleep. My daughter is crazy about Sydney.
Rod is crazy about Sydney and my grandson who is 12 thinks she is the cutest dog he has ever seen but Sydney likes me the best and will always try to be around me instead of anyone else. She makes a mess of my house. She chews up her soft toys and scatters the stuffing all over the house. Her toys are all over different rooms where she has put them. She is apt to steal too. She goes into my bedroom and brings out my shoes that she gets from the closet. She got into a desk draw and chewed up a checkbook cover. She loves to tear up the newspaper. She will not go off the porch when I put her outside unless someone goes with her to the back yard. No mistakes in the house whatsoever. Last night we went to bed early so this morning she woke up around 6:30 and jumped off my bed and went to the kitchen door and came back and barked to go out. She has barked to go out twice now so I know that she will ask to go out if she needs to but generally we just take her out often. We took her to a park recently and took her inside the huge tennis court and let her run around loose and practiced "come" and she is pretty reliable so long as she is not chasing a cat or something. We also take her to another park where she can run around in the ball field which is mostly fenced in. I usually let her trail 100 feet of lead so that if she decides to leave the fenced in area I only need to get within 100 feet of her to stop her but this allows her to run and get some good exercise then she goes for a little swim.
She is such a good dog and so cute. It really is a shame that she has heartworms. I'll give her the Ivermectin every month but I worry about what damage the worms are doing to her heart. Come what may I'll give her a good home and she will have a good life from now on.
Neither of my cats like her. Gypsy is ugly anyway and hisses and is the boss. Sydney is afraid of her and won't go past her. I have to stand between them for Sydney to feel safe going past Gypsy. Poor little Jaykee is afraid of the dog and has stayed in the cellar most of them time. Now she is coming up to sleep on the gandson's bed and Sydney does not bother her at all but Jaykee is not comfortable around the dog. There is a stray cat that we have fed for about four years, groomed him and treated him for ticks and fleas. He hangs around and he absolutely loves Sydney. Just about every time we take Sydney out, "Starvin Marvin" shows up and lays around near the dog and he seems to be watching for Sydney.
Anyway I'll not keep you any longer but just know that Sydney is doing well and is spoiled and pampered and gets a lot of attention and is happy here with us.

Update on August 6th:

Dear Lee, Cindy is doing fine. She loves to tear up my newspaper every morning after I have read it. She is also very interested in ripping up the toilet paper. She is well housebroken, no problems at all. She sticks around the house well even when off leash so long as I'm out in the yard with her. She is pretty good about coming when called. We walk her to the school yard pretty much every evening when she can climb around on the playground equipment. We have taken her swimming a couple of times and she likes that. She is sweet natured and so cute.

I took her to my daughter's house where she played and played with Janis's dog, Presley. Cindy was all tired out when we got home. I'm supposed to go to Portland today with a friend and will likely take Cindy out to stay with Janis and Presley for the day where she will not be lonesome. Cindy does not like to eat the dry food so I doctor it up with Dinty Moore beef stew, chicken stew, cottage cheese, yogurt, or hard boiled eggs and then she will eat it. Spoiled rotten.

She is getting along ok with the cats. One of the cats is ok with her. The other one will sit in the hallway and Cindy does not dare to go past her.
Cindy likes to sleep with me on my bed. We take naps-rather she takes naps while I watch tv for a while during the day.

Anyway, she is doing great. My partner, Rod, has fallen in love with her. He babies her-talks to her all the time in baby talk. Ridiculously funny.
The attached photo is "Baby's First Haircut" and will be good for a scrapbook page. My daughter has other photos we have taken but they are not digital.
Lee, Please keep in touch.
Love Ya, Lynn

Update as of July 24th:

Dear Lee, no problem peeing. No accidents in the house yet either. I did call Jan to tell her that Cindy was safe in her new home. We took her to the local swimming hole today and she loves to swim and she got to run all around the fenced in baseball field. She took a nap with me this afternoon on the couch. Jan was worried that this dog would be too energetic for me--this dog sleeps more than I do!

We also went to my daughter's house where Cindy got to play with Janis's dog, Presley, loose in a fenced in yard. When we took her in the house, she liked Presley's crate and kept taking his toys and bringing them into HIS crate. Anyway she has had a great day. Very loving dog. Met my grandson Jeffrey age 12 and she likes him. They just came in from playing in the yard.

She rode in the car great today and even jumped back in when it was time to go. She hasn't really met up with the cats much--the house is like in two sections so Cindy has been in the front section and the cats have decided to stay in the back. Anyway everything is going great. Rod is in love with this dog. Tomorrow to the groomer.

Catch you latah. We need to meet sometime. Let me know if you will be in the Augusta area.

Lynn
