Dallas went to his forever home on August 14th, 2010 and is living in Upstate NY. Update on oct 4, 2010 Dear Alicia,
Just want to update you on how well Dallas is doing. He is adjusting to both of us and Molly. Molly just loves him but he is not too sure of her. She makes him nervous when she moves very close to him. She has slept quite close to him and has put her arm over him and kept her paw on him. Dallas looks at us for assurance that he is okay and then goes back to sleep. They go everywhere together and Dallas follows her into the garden and is beginning to sleep in the flowers as she does. He is outside a lot as we have the patio door and back door open during the day so they can go in and out. He loves sleeping on the patio in the sun and just hang out outside. He loves the cool weather and doesn't seem bothered by walking in the rain either.
He has gone camping with us in our motorhome and is a great camper. He loves riding on a bed with Molly and hanging out with us on the campsite. He was a bit leery of the blowing leaves and the crunching underneath his paws but it is getting easier for him right now. This coming weekend we are going to Rhode Island as we have never been there so it will be a treat for all of us and hopefully both dogs has a chance to walk in the Atlantic Ocean.
Pictures will be arriving by snail mail. We have a new computer but are going to get a computer expert so that we do not lose files or pictures that we have on file. Hopefully this will happen before November so that I will be able to send you the pictures with our note.
We are so glad Roux has a good home. We were so excited to see him on your site. Great work you are doing.

Hi Alicia, Dallas has arrived and is doing well. He is the most beautiful boy and seems to feel at home - he loves the yard and walks and runs on the paths. He has found manholes dug by our last male- Chester and he is very interested in them. He received many toys and has carried them all around. He and Molly carry toys all over and can be found in every room and all over the yard.
Molly is still not comfortable with Dallas. We knew that would happen and have been there to help her not feel threatened. One of our friends, a dog trainer came over when we came back from getting Dallas and helped us work through the rough spots. Molly growls at him but Dallas just walks by her with a toy in his mouth and couldn't be bothered. They are right now sleeping, backside to backside while I am on the computer, taken a couple of walks together, ate near each other but we are there all the time to prevent any incidents. Molly is such a fearful dog and she needs time to see that she is safe. It will happen gradually.
We love Dallas and will take very good care of him. He is our dog all ready and will be loved for and cared for to the best of our ability. We will send updates on him and will send you pictures when I figure how to make this old computer do what I want.

Name: Dallas Gender: Male Age: approximately 5 yrs Neutered: yes Vaccinations: 5/10 Heartworm status: tested negative on 5-10. Temperament: mild
Dallas and his companion Ruger were turned into a parish animal shelter by their original owner after they repeated were found wandering the area. The animal shelter called us to take these 2 along with 2 other goldens who were there. Dallas is a happy 5 year old altered male. Although the shelter claims that he is full golden, Dallas may be a golden mix. We are guessing he may actually be a Goldendoodle (golden and poodle mix) as he has very curly hair, straight rear legs and a shorter tail. Regardless of his pedigree, he is an adorable deep red boy. He is well behaved has had some training. He happily hangs around with his tail wagging non-stop. He is a gentleman in the house and will not climb on the furniture. He is crate trained and will fairly easily enter the crate. He enjoys riding in a car and will lay down for the ride. He generally does well with other dogs. He has been taken to a dog park where he enjoyed seeing the other dogs and people. He will try to get out of the door or gate as soon as it is opened, however; each time he has gotten out while in my care, he has come back when called.
Dallas loves to have something in his mouth. He will carry around just about anything. He likes to play ball and play gently with a tug toy. Dallas tested negative for heartworms. He had not been on heartworm preventatives before entering our program and will need to be retested in 6 months to make sure he is truly heartworm free (there is a 6 month window for the diagnosis of this disease).
