Della/Maddie

Della/Madison went to her forever home in Upstate NY on Saturday August 12th, 2006. She now goes by "Maddie."

Update on March 15th:

Hello all,
Just an update on Maddie... Once a week my son Zack's preschool has a
"show-and-tell" day that starts with a certain letter. This week was "M" so he decided he wanted to draw a picture of Maddie and tell the class about his dog. Zack, who is 4 yrs, wrote on his picture; "Maddie is from Louisiana. She is yellow and I love her". Imagine his delight when his teacher gave me permission to bring Maddie in to visit his class! The 16 children were told to sit in a circle and let Maddie come around to each of them. You would think this dog had done this her whole life. It was like she knew her job. She slowly and calmly walked up to each child, wagged her tail, allowed herself to be patted, then walked up and stopped at the next child. Zack was in
his glory. The teachers could not get over what a great dog she is. I was very proud of her. I'm thinking she might be perfect for Therapy Dog training. I've enclosed a few pictures, one of which was her very first snowfall! She sends kisses......

Update on November 18th: all is going well and she loves her fur brother Mr. Bean and her human brother, Zack, too.

Della won a photo contest in August 2006. Here is the certificate.

Update on August 25th:

Hi Angela,
Finally a few pictures of Maddie! We took her swimming
today and she loved it! She couldn't convince Beans to
take the plunge with her (what kind of a Lab is he?)
but she kept jumping in over and over. She is such a
good girl. I do keep her on the leash when she is not
in her pen, since she seems to dart away quickly even
though she seems to want to be with us all the time.
I've been working on some basic commands and she seems
to have heard them before, or she is just real smart.
I can't tell you how much I love her!
The photos include her yard where the dogs hang out
(they have a dog door into the basement where they can
come into the house and up to the kitchen at will).
There is a picture where she is asleep on Molly's feet
with a big smile on her face, and one of her new
buddy, my son Zack. I may have to send them in a
couple of e-mails, and I promise to keep sending
pictures for you. Thanks for a super dog!
Michelle

Her new mom wrote this:

We decided on Maddie since that is close to Madison.
We absolutely love her already! You were right, she IS
perfect for us. Molly acted like she was one of her
pups. Beans is totally in love from first sight. She
walked right in like she knew the place. What a
sensible dog! And a total love. She couldn't decide
what stuffed toy she loved the most so she attempted
to pack as many in her mouth as she could. It was
quite comical. We are very pleased to have her here.
Will let you know how she does over the next few days.
Thank you again!
Michelle

update on August 15th:

Maddie did wonderfully on her first full day. She and
Beans are attached at the hip, it seems when they run
through the yard that they are in a brace they are so
close! She is so gentle with Molly, only nuzzling her
and laying beside her (if not a bit on top of her!) I
love the way she carries the toys around with a silly
"smile" on her face and will practically sit on your
lap if you are on the floor. She has had normal stools
(fingers crossed) and no cough. A friend saw her today
and said how much she reminded him of my Sunny. The
similarities in behavior is amazing. She is totally
loved her already!

Will keep you updated.
Michelle
