updated photos from her new family

Grace went to her forever home on Saturday November 11, 2006 in New Hampshire.

Update in November 2008:

Hi Jeanne!

I am so excited you want to use our update in the newsletter. I'm going to try to attach a picture for you... if it doesn't come through, let me know and I'll try again!

Since I last emailed, our little girl Anna has arrived and Gracie has received her with open paws...very gentle paws! She seems to know she needs to be careful... when she comes to say good morning to the baby, she lies down right near her, tucks her paws under and puts her head on Anna's belly. It's really cute!

I hope the reunion went well.. once again we were very disappointed not to make it. We'll try again next year!

The first picture is Gracie and our son Alex running on Long Sands Beach in York, Maine on our family vacation. The second is Gracie and Anna the night we brought Anna home. And the third is Gracie taking a snooze with our son Timmy! Hope these are okay!

Update on July 5, 2008:

Hi Jeanne!
Thanks so much for the newsletter... it's fun to read about what's going on and all of the wonderful families and dogs! We are hoping to make it to the reunion in Sept. We were really disappointed we couldn't make it last year. Thanks again for all you do!

Gracie is a fabulous dog and she has a personality that really fits right in with us. We love her to pieces. She is wonderful with our two boys and we can't wait for the arrival of our little girl (within the next 2 weeks) to see how Gracie receives her. I have a feeling she will be very protective like she is with her boys! We feel so blessed to have her in our family and are so
grateful to you and GSGRR for all you do and for getting her to us! Thank you!

Lisa

Update on February 19, 2007:

Angela,

Gracie is a wonderful friend and member of our pack. I wanted to personally send you some photos and thank you for selecting us to love on Gracie. I love her so much! Lis and I were playing cards this evening and she made the comment that someone, the person who left gracie really missed out on a wonderful dog! Then we both said she was left there for a reason! So she could love on US and bless US already in so many ways! Thanks for all that you do!
Brendan

Here is an update from her new momma on nov 16th and 13th:

Gracie is almost housebroken and had has two accident-free days. yeah.....

Hi Angela! I'm working on getting pictures to you! We're getting settled in! Gracie is doing great! She had a bit of a cough last night so we had her into the vet today and they think it was just from getting her kennel cough vaccine a few days ago. We're keeping an eye on it, actually an ear- lol. She seemed to get better as the day went on today! Everyone who sees her absolutely loves her, she's known as the "southern lady". We absolutely adore her! She is spunky and loves to play... we're having a lot of fun with her! She fits right in here with us! The boys are enjoying her... Alex, my 3 year old wants to help walk her and teach her to sit and shake and things like that! She's already obeying the sit command and is learning how to shake in just 2 days! We won't overwhelm her though, don't worry! : ) I'm signing up for a puppy class at Pet Smart as you suggested... I believe it starts on Nov. 30. I'm looking forward to that cuz I think it will help give me some helpful tips and a good base! I can tell you've worked a lot with Gracie! Thank you for loving her so much! I hope you're doing well! I promise to get you those pictures soon!

Blessings!

Amazing Grace is her name, aka "Gracie". She was found just hours old on a concrete driveway in the dead heat of August with no mother or littermates in sight. (birthday 8/22/06) Amazing that she survived her birthday ordeal. She is now 7 wks old and quite a spunky little girl. She is believed to be a golden retriever mix. She was well socialized since birth with dogs, cats, kids. She is crate trained and partially potty trained already. Gracie is timid at times with people grabbing her suddenly probably because she wasn’t ever roughed up by her canine mom or littermates. Her nursing foster, Virginia, would bottle feed her and rock her to sleep so she tends to be on the “spoiled” side. It’s kind of hard not to spoil her though. She never had a mom to love and care for her so we took great strides in giving her all she needed and then some.

Gracie just received her first round of shots, dewormed, and was examined by our attending vet who said she looks great. It is required that Gracie be spayed at 6 months old. Her coat is a beautiful sable/amber with white on the tip of her tail and highlights on her chest. She may be 50-60 lbs when in adulthood, but we are not certain considering we do not know her pedigree. She was rescued by her GSGRR foster mom, Angela, who has many more birth pictures of Gracie so you can have when she is a member of your family to add to your scrapbook. Many rescues have unknown history, but not in Gracie’s case. We have bottle fed her since hours old and have photo documented every step of her development to date.

Fill out an application today so Gracie can be your amazing grace.

Please note the following: if air travels is required for adoption, then Gracie needs to be 10-12 weeks for her health certificates and vaccines to board a pet cargo airliner. She is currently being foster in Louisiana.
