Howard, now Huck

update in December 2010

.Just to let you know that Huck (formerly Howard) has been doing great at my house.  I should have named him Shadow as he follows me everywhere.  He is such a sweet and good dog.  He has a sister, Kinsee, who is two years older than him and the two golden retrievers get along extremely well.    Thank you. Sid

See how much they look alike? Huck is on the left and Kinsee Rose is on the right.

Howard went to his forever home in Seattle Washington on December 5, 2009 and met his golden sister and they are in love.

Name: Howard
Age: around 2
Weight:
Gender: male
Spay/Neutered: tba
Immunizations: 7/2009
Heartworm Status: Positive but being treated
Date of Intake: July 2009

Howard is a 1-3 y/o male (though probably closer to one) found wandering a busy street in new orleans with no other known past history. He is heartworm positive and has very sensitive skin.  His skin is improving and it may be that he is recovering from an incredible flea and tick infestation.

Howard is very friendly with other people, dogs, even cats (though they typically don't like him). He will not leave my side when I am home and is very good when alone. He is fully house trained and has learned to sit and will respond to "no". He will come when you whistle. He doesn't seem to be afraid of thunderstorms when I am home with him but when I come home shortly after one, I will find him under the bed. It seems as though his goal is to please you in any way that he can. He gets excited when visitors come over. I have only heard him bark once.

Howard is a paper towel shredder (he has improved), a toilet bowl drinker (I have given up and closed the lid), a squeaky toy and stuffed animal toy destroyer (though he loves bones), and a shower invader. He wants to take a shower every day and, if you are unprepared, will barge in on you while you are taking yours and just sit down and let the water hit his face. He is a true water lover and, where there is water (be it a sprinkler, garden hose, shower, bath, anything) he will be.
