Lilly 5 adopted 7/23/2010
Name: Lilly5 Age: 10 months Weight: 29 pounds Gender: Female Spay/Neuter: June 17 Immunizations: June 16 Heartworm Status: Negative Date of Intake: June 16
Lilly5 was found tangled in wires under a raised home in New Orleans. The homeowners took her in while trying to find her owners. When that failed, they called GSGRR. We think she is a golden retriever/collie mix due to her longer muzzle . When picked up, we thought she was a 3-4 month old puppy due to her golden looks and small size. However, the vet said she was 9 months old based on her teeth. Lilly5 will probably top out at 35 pounds, a half size golden mix with a perpetual puppy look. She may be small, but Lilly5 has a big heart. She follows us around the house, wanting to be part of the action! She jumps and twirls when excited, and talks to us in barks. Lilly prefers to be on the couch next to us or laying on our feet. She loves giving kisses. At her first foster home, she kept trying to get two 10-year-old goldens to play, annoying them. However, she has done better with our 6-year-old golden who only wants to play at times.
She has almost outgrown chewing, and does well if given a bone or toy to chew. She is not totally housetrained, so will need someone to reinforce. She does stay in a crate at night, doing best if the crate is in a bedroom with her people. Lilly5 is a very social dog. She met another dog on her first walk of the neighborhood and sniffed nicely. She has also been totally submissive to our middle age male. The family that found her had a small dog and they played well. Lilly5 is still a high energy puppy. She did not do well in a foster home where everyone was gone most of the day. She is doing much better in our household where she is only left 3-4 hours at a time in a crate and everyone in the house practices basic training techniques. Learning to sit for a treat took Lilly 3 tries. She learned not to race out the front door by the middle of her second day here. While she has much to learn, she is a quick study, especially if treats are offered. If you are interested in Lilly5, please submit an application and mention her name. This does not commit you to taking her. It does allow us to evaluate whether your family and Lilly5 might do well together.
