Jim,

We had a Saint Bernard and wanted a Golden Retriever for the longest, but because my husband and I work a puppy wasn't the answer. So we found Old Gold Rescue, Gloria, on line and contacted her. After passing the home inspection she called and said there was a golden in Pensacola, with Lisa; this was in May, 2001. We were heading to Florida for vacation and told Gloria we would pick the dog up on our way back. The middle of June, 2001 we stopped in Pensacola and met Lisa, she had 3 goldens and told us that Chauncey, who we were picking up, might not come to us. He hadn't liked other parents who had come to get him and for us not to get upset if he chooses not to go with us either, but one of the other two might want to come home with us.

Soon as she opened the door and he walked out he ran right to us, very excited and when we showed him his collar he ran to the door; couldn't wait to get to his new home. He took the car ride very well and when we got home we put our other dogs in the yard and brought Chauncey inside. Introduced each of them slowly during the day and by nights end they were best friends.

He is a great dog, he was two when we got him and this summer will be 9 years old. We also rescued a half Golden, half Saint Bernard who is now 7, as well as a half Pomaranium/Chihuaha who is now 4. Our Saint Bernard went to the bridge in 2003.

I've attached a picture of Chauncey, one of the few pictures I'm able to get of him cause he thinks the flash is lightening and he doesn't care for it.

You guys are doing a great job saving these animals. They are a wonderful breed.

Debbie and Dennis
