Dear Judy,

First of all, I have to tell you that Grady is such a remarkable dog. He is friendly and funny and loving and he just makes me smile. He and Ben are the best of "buds", and he gets along GREAT with the cats. Our male cat (the one that had been injured due to a dog), gets along so great with both the "boys" that he had taken on the characteristics of the "boys" - he really thinks he is one of them!!! Recently this cat has even stuck his head in the boy's dishes while they are eating to get some dry dog food!!! And they let him - it doesn't matter whether it is Ben or Grady, they just keep on eating!!! It's quite the picture to see two heads stuck in the same dish!!!

I also check all the time to see what new dogs you have. I am glad Cowboy got his "wheels", and I hope he continues to thrive in the future!! He looks like he has a lot of spirit!! I love to look at the new dogs each week, and you people have taken in some real beauties!!! Wish I could adopt some more!!!

Which brings me to the next subject. We are planning on moving to New Mexico by the end of this year!! My husband will be 62 in October, and we want to move away from these harsh New England winters!!! The snow was so deep this year, Grady had to hop almost straight up to get thru it!! It tired him out real easy!!! And then as it finally started to melt, it go so soft (even though it was still pretty deep) that Grady would sink down into it, so it was a struggle for him to get around the back yard. It finally got to the point that he wanted to go out, but once he got to the door he would change his mind and come back inside. I guess he figured it wasn't worth the hassle!!! He would only go out when he absolutely had to!!! Thanks to the big rain storms we had this past weekend, all the snow is gone except near the fence . Spring just doesn't want to arrive in New England this year!!! So here is my question - when you came up to New England to visit, what motels did you stay in that accepted your dog with no hassle? We will be traveling with 2 dogs and 2 cats!!! It is going to be approximately 2,475 miles and will take at least 5 days!!!

I can picture it with the dogs, but the cats HATE their carriers, and cry all the time they are in the car (like when they go to the vet) !!! It sure is going to be a LOOOOOOOOOOONG JOURNEY!!!

Would appreciate any tips you have on traveling with animals!!!

Well, guess this about does it for now. Hope to hear from you soon.

Love to all (two and four-legged),

Ellen
