Rusty is a very affectionate dog and a superb retriever. He will pick up sticks or balls and then brings them to us to throw for him. Rusty walks well on a leash and does basic obedience: come, sit, stay, down, and no. He follows us around the house and often will lay down and put his head under our chair. He is very trainable and is at his best when he gets plenty of exercise.

 

Rusty is house broken, crate trained, and rides well in a car. If someone comes up to the house, he will bark, but otherwise he is not a barker. Once you let people into the house and introduce him, he is very friendly.

 
 Rusty would do best as an only dog. He gets along well with other dogs, but thinks that the ideal game is wrestling with them. Unlike the average Golden, Rusty does not do well with children, giving them a low growl. He needs a fenced yard to keep him from rambling. For these reason, he must go to a home with no children and a fenced yard.

 

Rusty would be the perfect companion for a single adult or an adult couple, who have an active life style. He is a beautiful dog with lots of love and athletic ability to share.
