Sam- adopted and living in Huntsville AL and living with GSGRR alumni Morgan- now shane.
Name: Sam
Sam came to GSGRR from a local shelter. His is a classic shelter story. Sam was brought home as a puppy and put in the back yard after he grew to full size. With boredom came digging, and a trip to the shelter.
When he was taken out of the shelter, Sam instantly bonded with his foster family. He wanted to be right next to us, preferably touching a human. He was instantly friendly with the other two golden retrievers in the home. The Labrador Retriever next door greets every dog with hair raised, growling and barking through the chain link fence. Sam nicely sniffed through the fence with tail wagging. (Unfortunately, the lab has been this way since he and his owner were attacked by a German Shepherd.)
Sam is not 100% house trained, but is getting better every day. His is extremely fast and agile. He jumped over a dog in his path rather than bowling him over, impressive considering the dog's back stands 23 inches and Sam did not touch one hair. Sam greets us by jumping up and down in front of us, but not on us. If he is in front of a person and they put their hands on him, he nicely sits. He does not wander the house, but quickly settles at our feet when we are still. Sam wants to please so much we predict he would do very well in obedience class. Sam is most motivated by praise, not food. He walks easily on a leash, not pulling.
Overall, Sam is a very loving dog looking for a loving home. If you are interested in him, please fill out an application and mention his name.
