Stephanie emails on 3/17/05:

Hi Judy,

We are all fine in freezing Mass. We still have snow on the ground. Everyone is ready for spring. Happy St. Patrick's Day - a big day around here!

Sandy is doing great. I have really gotten to know her personality this past year. She is a very emotional dog! I have been told that golden retrievers are that way.

She will retrieve anything she can get her mouth onto and she is quite the bird dog. She can get a bird in our back yard so I had to move the bird feeder. As far as I know, she has not killed one bird yet! Amazing.

I would like to take her to dog training classes in the summer or even spring when our schedules open up a bit. She has all good qualities some bad too. She has started eating her own poop which is so gross. I think this is due to the fact she gets bored when I can't walk her but we have had so much snow we were all stuck inside for a while and I can't clean up the yard as I do everyday in spring and summer. I do drive her to the beach when we can't walk on the side walks.

Sometimes I think she gets a bit jealous of our little girl. I'm not sure if she is disinterested or Sandy is so attached to me that she wants all of my attention.

She makes the funniest moans and noises when we come home or when she has retrieved something she knows she was not supposed to touch like a toy or even trash!

Well, that is about it. We love her and she does have a cushy life and she is healthy. I let her sleep on our bed during the day and she has two dog beds in our house (she prefers our bed, of course). She is a cuddler and will gaze up at you when you are trying to watch tv trying to get on the couch.

I think of you all often. I sometimes check into your web site to see what dogs you have. I would love to get another but just can't.

Please keep in touch! It was great hearing from you.

Best regards,
Stephanie

Hi Judy!

Just wanted to drop you a quick note. I can't believe it is coming up on a year that we have had Sandy with us. She is doing great. As I write this she has snuck upstairs and has settled into the warm blankets on my bed. That's okay though. She is a real softy.

My daughter loves her and said this Halloween she wanted to be a dog just like Sandy but she had to find a "golden" outfit. She is four. Well, that did not happen after all because Cinderalla won out when we passed the costume section. But they get along fine and she loves her.

Sandy is quite the bird dog and huntress. She has captured many birds and they all have lived. She also finds moles in our yard - yuk! but they are not so fortunate.

Well, I hope you are doing fine after all of the bad weather you sustained. We were thinking of you. The cold weather has finally crept in here and we are about to batten down the hatches for winter. Take care and keep in touch!

Best regards,
Stephanie

"Hi Jim,

I just wanted to check in and say hello. Sandy is doing great. At the last vet appt. she has gained six pounds. I was told to keep her at her current weight and she looks beautiful. Her coat keeps coming in richer and thicker every month.

Yesterday, we all went to the beach and she loves jumping the waves. She is really a very good dog. She always comes to me when I call to her.

She is also at my side at all times and even sneaks into bed with me. My daughter, Katie, has changed so much since she has been around. She is no longer timid around dogs and she has much confidence in dealing with Sandy.

Hope you are having a good summer so far. I saw your new web site - it looks great. I wish I could adopt another golden - only if we got a bigger lawn would that be possible. Theo looks adorable.

Anyway, take care and hello your wife too!

Regards,
Stephanie"
