Hello to All!
just wanted to drop an e-mail. We have had Libby a little over 2 months and it seems like so much longer. She is such a wonderful dog! During that little storm named Ivan I decided to evacuate north. Since I was going north I thought I would take advantage of the time off from work and go home to Michigan. Libby, who I don't think has ever had much of an opportunity to ride in a car did great! Most of the trip she did stay in her crate (sleeping with all four paws up in the air!) Once we arrived at my parents she had a great time smelling all the new smells and checking out the corn fields. Secretly,I don't think my parents wanted me to take her with me when I left. My dad really seemed to take to her (and her to him) He found every excuse to take her out for long walks on the cool autumn nights. She is such a good girl. We had a great visit, but I think she was really happy to get back to her home.
She has now had three heartworm treatments and is thriving! Libby has put on a little weight, and is a very healthy 50 pounds.
I can't express our happiness with her and tell everyone (who will let me) about the rescue. Even if its not a Golden they are looking for I tell them to try and find a rescue for what ever breed they want. It has been one of the best things we have ever done!!!
Thanks again for all you do, we truly appreciate it!!
Warm regards!

"Carol and Jim,
I just had to e-mail back in response to Libby's house training. She is such an inside dog now! Everyone who has met Libby can't believe that she has only been with us a week (today!). She is soooo good.
She went to the vet again on Sat and had her stitches removed and another blood test for the heartworm. She will go back Friday to start the heartworm treatment. She will be there all day Friday. They will give her an injection and want to keep her there to monitor her. After that she will just be on the heartguard until the heartworm is gone.
Libby is entirely house broken. If she did have a bladder infection, it is gone. We only had those two incidents and not looked back! We had put the crate away and have not had any accidents. She is left here in the house for 9 hours a day (although my neighbor does come over twice during the day to let her out) and has not gone to the bathroom inside or chewed on anything- except her toys. She goes right to the door and whines to go out when ever she needs to go out. We are in the process of training her to nudge a rope bell to alert us that she needs to go out. So far so good with that.
I know Carol went and picked her up from her previous owners, but I can't help but to think she may have mixed her up with another dog. She is so wonderful. I can't believe she was kept outside, because she has adapted so easily to being inside. I take her with me in the car where ever I can, she loves the car and rides really well. She is very calm and so sweat.
She must have had some training, as she responds to the command heel and when we stop she immediately sits. She is the best dog I have ever seen. ( and yes I am a little bias!). We can't thank you enough. My neighbors and friends are in amazement that she was given up by someone (their loss our gain!)
I hope you can tell how much we love her!
Our heart felt Thanks!!!!
Sincerely,
The Gavitts :o)

"Hello All!
Just wanted to drop a line about Sandy2. We decided to change her name (a new beginning so to speak), so since we adopted her on July 4th we named her Liberty "Libby" for short. She seems to respond to it well. Our trip home was wonderful. She cuddled with all of us on the ride, not leaving anyone out. Once we arrived home she addapted pretty quickly. We kept her in the crate the first night. She cried just a little and then went to sleep. We have not put her in the crate since. (We are gone most of the day, and she has done wonderfully) Our neighbors do come over every 3(or so ) hours to visit her and let her outside. We are not too sure if she is house broken. She has had a few accidents, but I can't help wondering if she may have an infection. We have taken her to the vet (on Tuesday the 6th) the vet said she looked great a little under weight but beautiful. He is going to treat her for the heartworms. He said since we adopted her from the rescue he would only charge us $85.00 for the treatment. He also only charged us $35.00 of the office visit that encluded blood tests, antibotics for the kennel cough, and clipping her nails. He also gave us free samples of Frontline. I was amazed and very touched. (He knew how hard we took it when we lost our first Golden to a liver disease) He told us because of every thing we went through with him and because we went to the rescue to adopt another he would give us a break on our vet cost.
Libby is doing so great! She has fit in so perfectly. Even my grumpy old cat loves her. (which was my greatest concern, because he is my biggest baby!). She follows us around everywhere we go. She loves to take evening walks, she is great on a leash and minds very well!
Needless to say, we are so happy. I don't think I could have special ordered a more perfect dog! Thank you for your great description of her on the web site. She was the one we came to look at and with one look from her I knew she was the one. I can't believe that anyone would give her up, but on the other hand I am so thankful.
Anyway!! Once again thank you for all you do. We will e-mail again soon!
Good things to you....
Jeff, Gina, Alison, Cole and Libby!!
