Shadow-Adopted:7/22/10 Shadow will go to his forever home with Hugh. Shadow will spend his days going to work Hugh at his job in a local nursing home. What a great 'job' for a Golden.
updated in feb 2012: Hi Alicia,
I adopted Shadow in July of 2010. He was already named when I got him, but I took the liberty of "Cajunizing" his hame to Shadeaux. He is doing very well. He is spoiled rotten and loves it. As a true Louisianian, Shadeaux doesn't eat to live, he lives to eat. He is particularly fond of the Thanksgiving - Christmas season because I always pick our turkey clean and generally fill a large Tupperware bowl with Turkey meat for him. I mix a couple of pieces of turkey in with his dog food and he thinks he died and went to heaven. On Thanksgiving and Christmas day, I even give him dressing with gravy in addition to his turkey. I know that's not the thing to do, but it's two times a year and he LOVES it. The photos I've attached are from October and were taken just after I had him groomed. It's gotten long again and he looks more like a typical Golden Retriever (which I love), but he's shedding EVERYWH ERE and it doesn't matter how much I brush him, he can regrow hair faster than I can brush it out. So I'll be taking him in for grooming very soon. We have had a change of address since I adopted Shadeaux. We now live at xxxxxx in New Orleans (70124). And while you'd think that was not a good move for a GR, Shadeaux actually loves the new place. We go out several times a day and he loves it when the neighbors' dogs are out at the same time. So actually, we moved from a densely populated, high traffic area of Mandeville, to a little less populated area with much less traffic in N.O. On the weekend, I'd estimate that we have maybe 5 cars pass by per day. Most of the traffic on our street is the kids from down the block riding their go-carts and minibikes. So, as you can imagine, Shadeaux is quite happy here. Thank you for checking in on my third son. Hope I've given you the information you wanted. Hugh C
