Shaymus is a fairly large blond golden. A very regal looking, beautiful dog.  He's housebroken, knows some simple commands such as sit and shake and seems comfortable with a crate.  He's been with us a week or so and has recently started barking when put in his crate, but calms down after about 15 minutes or less.  He can easily have the run of a house though without issues.  So far he's not eaten anything he shouldn't have and does not get on furniture. Shaymus loves soft stuffed animals, just toys he's been given to play with only.   He has no issues with cats, leaves ours alone and loves children.  He pays no attention to our small female dog either.  He has very good manners and will not come in the house unless invited and is very independant, he doesn't need to be right at your feet.  When he is inside he spends much of his time laying by the door looking out.  He hasn't gotten into trash even when a bag was left on the floor for an afternoon.He never touched it.   He hasn't counter surfed either ( I have young kids so there are opportunities). He does play with our male golden but can be a bit of an alpha male and may fight over a toy.  He would probably be a better fit in a family without another male dog.  He also will drool when he's anxious or stressed it seems.  After a couple of days becoming comfortable with his new foster family the drooling has mostly stopped.  He's a very sweet loving dog and would be a great companion for someone.
