Sonny

Sonny went to his forever home in MA in November 2007 with another golden named Saddie.

Jeanne,
I wanted to thank you again for your help in our adopting Sonny. He is wonderful! All of us, young and old, agree he is a great addition to the family. And as you can see he likes to make himself at home.
With warm regards,
Anita

Last Friday Judy took in a beautiful 18-24 month old male Golden
Retriever with a bad left eye. He was a stray from Madisonville LA. This
morning Sonny was examined by the vet and the following are the results:
The dog is blind in his left eye probably due to trauma.

At this time nothing needs to be done to the left eye. The good news is the left eye appears almost normal at a casual glance. The right eye is normal and the dog has adjusted well to using one eye. The heart worm check was negative, he received his shots today and the rest of the exam was normal. Sonny needs to be neutered. His right K-9 tooth is a a little out of alignment and when he sleeps it is visible at the gum line.

This is a very sweet dog who will go belly up for any person and likes
to play with my other dogs. He is a little shy but quickly adjusts to
new people. Sonny is house broken, is rapidly becoming crate trained,
likes to ride in a car and walks very well on a leash. As you can see in
the two pictures provided by Judy, Sonny is a beautiful classic looking
Golden.

As we look for a family for Sonny my only concern is that he be
placed in a home that limits the risk of injury to the right eye. I am
thinking no rough dogs are very small children. Thanks to Judy for a
great rescue.
