update in feb 2012

Hi Alicia,

We adopted our golden last year in June.  He was named Sugar Bear  we changed his name to Avery Bear.  He is the sweetest dog ever.  He has taken a strong liking to my husband Dave  as you can see from some of the pictures, they cuddle.

He has also lost a good bit of weight and is looking very healthy!  (He was overweight when he came to us).

More pictures to come  I love pictures

SugarBear has fully healed from his surgery and ready to go to a forever home. Sugar Bear is a good looking, loving dog. He is housebroken, knows the sit command, gets along with other dogs and loves human attention. Bear will come and put his head on your leg looking for attention and sit with you for as long as you'd like to pet him. He'll also go and lay down quietly when you stop. Bear will sit on command when ever asked and jump and bounce for his dinner. He has been known to counter surf. We're working on stopping that.

History:  He was turned into an emergency vet clinic after he was hit by a car which broke a hind leg.  The vet called us to step in.  Sugar Bear required surgery by an orthopedic specialist (South Paws) to repair his leg.  They had to put a bone plate into the leg because Bear is so large (overweight at 100 lbs).

If you would like to sponsor him at any level, please click on the “Have a Heart of Gold” sponsorship icon.  If you are interested in adopting Sugar Bear, please complete our online application and mention his name.
