Tyler Tyler- adopted Update on May 31, 2009 ![]()
Hi Judy, Hope things are going well for you, Reba and Annie! Scratch those beautiful girls behind the ears from their little bro Tyler! Just wanted to give you a little update on our wonderful boy, I think the people I work with must be getting tired of my bragging. I come in everyday saying, “I am so in love with my dog, Tyler is the best dog EVER!” He is such a perfect fit for our family! My six year old, Eva and Tyler play “dog” together. They wrestle like little puppies, Tyler is so gentle with her! He is very well behaved, loves to sit on the front porch with us and watch the world go by. He loves bird watching and gets very excited when he sees one, but doesn’t chase. I’m convinced he is just looking for more friends to play with! Marie, my 7 year old loves to walk Tyler and cuddles up at night when we watch TV. But as much as my girls love Tyler, that is MY dog. We are up early, he sits with me while I read the paper and drink my coffee. He has very good manners and listens well to me. But mostly we are just together! Thanks you so much for finding him and matching us. I am very grateful. I am thinking that in a year we may be ready to find him a friend. I will let you know when we’re ready! Thanks again for all your help Judy!

I got the call this morning that Tyler was ready to come home.It didn't take him long to make himself right at home. First thing he did was go to the toy basket take out a big toy and walked up to my dogs waiting to see which one was going to try and take it from him. Then he found the dog bed.
He's taking a nap now.
Here's one picture from Wednesday at the rehab center. And a sleeping Tyler today, back in his foster home.

Photos on February 27, 2009 Judy went to visit Tyler today. All things considered he's doing well. He was brought in to the visiting room to see me. He looks so sad.All shaved and bandages on his hips.I sat on the floor and rubbed on him which he enjoyed. He did wag his tail when I talked to him as the tech picked him up to go back to his kennel. It didn't feel too good leaving him there.Poor boy. I know he's being well cared for and all the people working there said he's such a sweet dog and they all love him
Updates on March 6, 2009: I visited Tyler today. He's doing well and still has his happy disposition. He welcomed me with plenty of tailwagging and kisses. Tyler is getting up and about on his own.I watched him walk on the underwater treadmill and he was playing with another dog while he was out with the rehab folks.
Here are some pictures.

Update on March 13, 2009: I visited Tyler on Friday. He's doing well and if all goes as planned Dr Mauterer will do Tyler's elbow surgery on Wednesday. Update april 4, 2009: He is doing well on his rehabilitation.
Name: Tyler
Age: 11 months DOB 5/08
Gender: Male
Neutered: Yes
Vaccinations: UTD
Heartworm status: positive
Tyler is a young, energetic Golden puppy with medical problems that we are having corrected with surgery. He needs surgery to correct bilateral hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia in his front left leg. The surgery on his hips was successfully done on Feb 26th. The surgery for his elbow dysplasia will be done after he has gone through several weeks of rehabilitation for the hip repair.
These physical problems have not stopped Tyler from enjoying life. In fact, he does not know he is handicapped. He is good with other dogs and enjoys playing and running. He tries very hard to keep up with the other dogs. It will be wonderful for him to be able to keep up with them after his surgery and rehabilitation.
Tyler enjoys belly rubs, hugs and kisses. He'll come over with a smile on his face, looking for love. He loves toys and will go to the toy basket, take out all the toys one at a time, and bring them to his bed to play with and chew on.
Tyler is completely housebroken and is crate trained. He will happily walk into his crate when told "go in your room". Did I mention he has more spots on his tongue than any Golden I've ever seen? When asked, I always tell folks that a black spot on a Golden's tongue is the mark of a special dog. With the number of spots Tyler has, he is a very special dog. Having Tyler as a foster dog has been a pleasure.
