Zoe, or Xena: Warrior Princess, as I like to call her because she is a little hunter (okay, so I didn't see any of the Xena series).  To her, my backyard is a fascinating world of tiny creatures that she loves to search out - lizards, mostly...  She is a small-frame Golden who is very happy, sweet, and gentle.  She loves my other dogs and will play with them when she isn't "hunting".  This is a dog who loves to have people around but does not not ask for alot of attention.  If you like to sit or work outside, you can watch her explore the nooks and crannies of your yard searching for tiny critters.  In the house, she is a calm well-behaved girl though she will greet your return with joy!

In her early life, she was a "deer dog". You can read about the sport on this link.  http://www.louisianafolklife.org/LT/Articles_Essays/creole_art_deer_hunt_dogs.html

Apparently, that was not in her career plan so she is now looking for a home where she can limit her hunting to her own back yard. She has not had any prior training with basic commands like "sit, down, etc" but she is house-trained and very gentle.  If this sounds like the dog for you, please fill out an application to adopt her.

If you would like to sponsor her at any level, please click on the “Have a Heart of Gold” sponsorship icon.  If you are interested in adopting Zoe, please complete our online application and mention her name.
