Darlene's Fund for Special Needs Dogs

Gulf South Golden Retriever Rescue is introducing “Darlene’s Fund” – dedicated in memory of Darlene DiRosa to the care and treatment of our special needs dogs. GSGRR is often faced with the responsibility of rehabilitating dogs that come into rescue in poor health from situations that include abuse and neglect. The cost of surgery and treatment necessary to heal these dogs inevitably surpasses available funds. When one devoted GSGRR adopter donated generously toward the medical intervention for one of our special needs dogs, the seed was planted for this memorial fund.

Darlene DiRosa was an important part of the GSGRR community. She provided a loving home to more than 25 rescued Golden Retrievers and exhibited an unwavering idealism that every dog in rescue receive immediate care, a warm welcome into a foster home, and a loving forever home of its own.

Darlene’s devotion to Golden Retriever Rescue mirrors the fine qualities found in the breed she loved so well. In spite of her own personal setbacks and failing health, Darlene remained steadfastly kind to fellow rescuers and faithful to all dogs in need. She bravely took on the challenges of caring for dogs with medical and behavioral issues without complaint and found time to promote increased awareness of Golden Retriever Rescue.
With the initiation of “Darlene’s Fund”, Gulf South Golden Retriever Rescue celebrates the spirit of a much loved and dearly missed member of our rescue. To our generous adopter and donor – Thank you for making this possible.
And to Darlene – Run free, dear friend. Your service lives on.
